A Marxist-Leninist ideologue who fled Chile for the USSR after the CIA backed coup. After starting a new life in Moscow he 'saw the light' and became a rabid anti communist, who fled to the US after the Cold War ended and became a staunch Republican.

This actually didn't happen that much. Even today Chileans that live permanently in Cuba vote overwhelmingly for the left.

Socially conservative copper miner who came to dislike the environmentalism of Democrats. who became rich working for a U.S. minning company and then moved to the U.S.

How likely do you think it is that an Allende supporter might move to the U.S. in the 70s or 80s, become a smallholder/small business owner, and then have their politics warped into becoming a Republican because of wanting low taxes and less regulation?
