He'll trash certain individuals definitely, but he will still want some presence in the party's future and they know that too which is why the GOP having some sort of epiphany of sanity should he lose is so unlikely.

Sanity was never going to happen no matter what. It didn't happen in 1992 or 1996, it didn't happen in 2006 or 2008...so why now?

Some people probably are still foolishly clinging to this notion. It's why seeing anti-Trump Republicans who may cling to the "supporting a Democrat for President but with a Republican Senate to check them" mentality are so frustrating.

This is a realignment. Those anti-Trump Republicans will become Democrats. They may dead-cat-bounce back to the Republicans in 2022 or 2024, but they will mostly be Democrats until the next realignment.

There will be large, fundamental changes in both parties.

Let's hope the changes are away from radicalism and toward pragmatism.

A political landscape that has bland, socially progressive neoliberal centrists running one party, and toxic nationalist populists Purple heart running the other, is not an alignment favorable to anyone.

And I say this as a bland, socially progressive neoliberal centrist.

For this year, sure. But in looking at how down-ballot candidates like Russ Feingold under-performed Clinton in 2016, they were definitely a presence then and foolishly screwed the country over even more by being so presumptuous about Clinton winning and not considering how a continued Republican Senate Majority would enable Trump so much.

He'll certainly let loose on the NeverTrumpers and the squishes.  He'll certainly blast the Ben Sasses of the world who have insulted him for 4 years, only to suck up to him when they needed to ensure that they wouldn't have primaries.

That's the way of politics.  George McGovern never said anything particularly nice about Jimmy Carter in 1976, and why should he have?  Carter said he'd vote for him but wouldn't campaign for him, and wasn't shy about pointing out the drag McGovern was on the Democratic ticket in GA.  McGovern ended up privately voting for Ford and announced that after the fact while still in the Senate.  He said he "didn't really know Carter" in 1976, but in 1972 he was willing to describe Carter as "the biggest p---k in politics".  He never warmed up to Carter and supported Kennedy in the 1980 primary.  Why Trump should be any warmer to those Republicans who have never been supportive of him except when they needed him.

Still, Trump's a Republican.  He won't trash the GOP and most of the GOP won't trash him.  They're "All In!" as far as Trump is concerned.  He'll blast the NeverTrumpers however.

Feingold got a larger vote share than Clinton...

He will trash any part of the party that doesn't remain loyal to him.

Of course not, Judicial Watch is gonna monitor the Hunter Biden story as soon as Biden becomes Prez, that found dirt on Hillary with  Benghazi and Bill Clinton, with Lewinsky which will likely end with Biden serving 1 term as Prez and Harris running and winning in 2024, based on the 2024 Senate lineup.

The Rs want to get back control of the House in 2022. Hunter Biden corruption has legs and would of been fully investigated before the election but Covid knocked it out of news. Hunter is corrupted, but hasn't been found any done illegal yet

But he lost by a bigger margin. Parse it how you like, but there were definitely ticket-splitters.
