This would make for an interesting story if anyone actually cared about it besides #resistance liberals.

Then proceeds to vote for his trash scotus nominee in public. Very brave.

Whatever problems Sasse has with Trump, it would be incredibly dumb and petty for him to not vote for a well qualified nominee who fits his judicial philosophy.

Then he's not opposed to Trump. Just the optics.

Am I truly oppose to trump then if I oppose trump but support most of his policies

Just vote for Trump.

You're voting for a president and their policies, not a national best friend.

(This is same exact thing I'm telling wavering lefties on Sleepy Joe.)

Disagree as being incompetent regardless of how good your policies are negatively impacts the country especially during crises time as the past year has shown

That sounds like a better argument to stay home or vote Hawkins.

Must be nice to know you can insult people like that as much as you want and they will fall in line with your policies all the same.

Too bad Democrats didn't find a high quality candidate to run against Sasse...

This is yet another "imagine if Obama did x" moment. It's outrageous the different standards the parties are held to.

And Trump knows this, and has taken full advantage of it. Once again, it falls back into his "winners vs. losers" mentality, which he inherited from his father and which he has possessed his entire life. This also explains why Trump sought to get past his coronavirus diagnosis as quickly as possible and to present himself as having a quick and speedy recovery, even though that was not the reality.

It goes to show how debased the Republican party is. Trump insults their honor, parents, wives, physical looks and then they still rollover because they like his taxation policy. What a joke.

Trump has fallen in line with Sasse's policies more than the other way around.

Trump has fallen in line with Sasse's policies more than the other way around.

And this is precisely why establishment Republicans did not lift a finger to remove him from office when they had the opportunity to. Aside from certain aspects of trade, immigration, and foreign entanglements, Trump has for the most part adhered to Republican orthodoxy, as it has existed since the Reagan Revolution, and has done little to seriously challenge the Party's current ideological framework.

If you put it that way, it actually makes Republican Senators look good for putting the good of the country above their own personal feelings and grudges. Of course that's not what they're actually doing, but this isn't a good argument to condemn them with-politicians aren't there to serve themselves after all (well they shouldn't be lol).

Naw. Because Sasse could recognize the potential blowback that might ensue from this fraudulent process of attempting to impose the opinions of trashy evangelicals on the rest of the populace. Democrats have been very generous to rural whites, but that generosity may be reaching its breaking point. Sasse is a scumbag who lectures about values and decorum, but is unwilling to hold his own party to the same standards.
