Knowles is running for Governor.  Berkowitz will be running for Lt. Governor.

If Knowles and Murkowski both get nominated, I think we can safely put this in the bag of "Democratic pick-up".

Yes! Go Knowles! I hope he takes the senate seat in four years as well. Smiley

It seems to me that Knowles is pretty much assured of the Democratic nomination. The only question is whether Murkowski is unpopular enough to lose the Republican nom, but judging by the opposition it doesn't seem likely. They look seriously light-weight to me.

Also, I find it pretty cool that Knowles managed to win an open seat in Alaska in 1994! That's pretty impressive.

My money is on Knowles. There's a difference between voting for him for governor and voting for him for senate, and it will show up this November.

I'm moving this to Lean Dem.

With less than 40% of the vote IIRC.

Actually I'm going to move this back to  Tossup since I realized there's no guarantee Murkowski will win the primary, and in fact he probably won't since Bob Holden lost the primary last year with much higher approval ratings (while still dismal). While Knowles is stronger than all the other GOP candidates, it's still not enough to go beyond Tossup Dem.
