I've posted the results in the initiatives/polls thread but it's good to see the pro-gerrymandering amendment on course to failure.

And so Missouri once again votes for progressive policies by referendum and then elects Republicans who oppose those policies to office.

Pardon me while I go slam my head into a wall.

Missouri still has bellwether instincts.

But why?

Why does MO support progressive policies, but support people like Hawley, The Blunts, etc.?

An addiction to populism and to culture war red meat. Rural Missourians have bought the portrayal of Democrats as rich snobby wine-sipping urban elitists hook, line, and sinker, but they're populists, so if you remove partisanship, they'll happily vote in favor of raising the minimum wage, against right-to-work, in favor of Medicaid expansion, and against gerrymandering.

Galloway is closing in. Three more weeks

I certainly hope so. Democrats can outperform polls here, and this would be the year for it to happen. So we'll see what happens. I'm keeping my expectations low, though. I don't want to relive 2016's Missouri Triple Nothingburger again.
