I must say I have to give the Biden campaign credit for their tax increase policies.  They are still calling for a significant tax increase on America's wealthiest, both through the income tax increase and the massive social security tax increase (by abolition of the earnings limit). What makes this impressive is that so many wealthy people are on their side politically and helping to fund their campaigns, and indeed some wealthy parts of the country are part of their base (think the Bay Area in California). It will be interesting to see how this plays out, and whether big tax increases will inspire some of these wealthy Dems to reexamine their outlook.  Probably not a big deal for lots of them but maybe for some.

Viewed through an incredibly cynical lens, the wealthy folks supporting Biden know that income inequality is at its highest point, and that many people are (deservedly so) fed up with disgusting displays of wealth. To them, they would much rather eat the cost of a tax increase to keep the proles content, than to risk getting guillotined. I wouldn't put it past them if this move was solely in the interest of self-preservation and maintenance of at least some of their fortunes, rather than true investment and belief in such causes.

How is that cynical? That's precisely what's happening.

I mean there won't be a class revolution any time soon, so I don't know if I agree with that.
