He absolutely won't. His ego is too big. Nixon, for his flaws, was a seasoned politician who knew he wouldn't survive the Watergate fallout. Trump is far less savvy.

Even if Trump resigned, the GOP is still screwed since his supporters would be too demoralized to come out for Pence, and there aren’t enough current Biden supporters who prefer Pence to Biden

The president resigning weeks before his reelection sounds like a perfect way to implode GOP turnout in a redistricting year and screw the party over for the next decade in much of the country.
