It's fairly simple IMO. She's a rather simpathetic character, plus her anti-war stance looks great until you examine it closely and explore hypothetical scenarios. Which many never do (ignorance and/or actively avoiding challenging their pre-conceived notions).

It's because she was "anti-establishment" and somewhat populist. People on the internet left thought that meant she was left wing, when in reality its perfectly possible to be an "anti-establishment populist" and be very close to the center. That's how you get Tulsi.
