It's as if the sympathy bump Trump wanted went to the other person.

I have only so much sympathy to offer, and that is only for people who didn't mess up.  Most of us know the rules: don't use drugs, don't drive drunk, don't do crime, don't ignore danger signs, don't drive at ridiculous speeds, don't mess with venomous creatures, and don't sleep around.  Mine is for people who did nothing to get themselves into the mess -- perhaps they were dragooned into it.

Basically,

1. Don't perpetrate evil, and
2. Don't be a schmuck.

For people who violate rules 1 and 2 there are often plenty of innocent victims. That's before we get to people crippled in combat and workplace accidents, crime, hereditary oppression, poverty, various forms of abuse, acts of God, and genetic diseases.

I'm continually shocked that Harris remains the most popular of the 4. I never would've expected that, but Trump's team also flopping bigly in trying to define her.

Favorabilities:
Harris 47/36 (+11)
Biden 52/42 (+10)
Pence 38/49 (-11)
Trump 39/59 (-20)

Yeah I thought the massive swing was an outlier but it appears it may be a trend.

Joking aside, I wonder if people are really changing their minds after the one-two combo of Trump' abysmal debate and infection, or if it's non-response bias on steroids.

This poll gives me a bigger thrill than the time I skied down a mountain with a parachute strapped to my back.

I was wondering too but as Nate notes, the sample is only D+5, and in the article they mention the sample is only slightly more Dem than their last poll

Biden: 57%
Trump: 41%
Other: 1%
Neither: 0%
No Option: 1%

http://cdn.cnn.com/cnn/2020/images/10/06/rel12b.-.2020.pdf

Quote
Joe Biden's advantage over President Donald Trump has expanded and the former vice president now holds his widest lead of the cycle with less than a month remaining before Election Day, according to a new nationwide CNN Poll conducted by SSRS.

Among likely voters, 57% say they back Biden and 41% Trump in the poll that was conducted entirely after the first debate and mostly after the President's coronavirus infection was made public.

WOWZER! I would think that there is some non-response bias going on but who knows? We haven't really seen this reflected in state polls so I am curious to see if state polling starts showing this with numbers like this Biden should have a double digit lead in WI/MI/PA and around a ~10 point lead in FL. Lets see if upcoming state polls show that trend.

Don’t get complacent.

We need to act as though we’re 16 points behind.  Vote and encourage others to vote.

October 1-4
1001 likely voters
MoE: 3.6%

Looking at registered voters (for trends' sake), there are 1095 with a MoE of 3.5%. Compared to the previous August 28 - September 1 poll, the results for them are:

Biden 56% (+5)
Trump 41% (-2)
Other 1% (n/c)
Neither 1% (-1)
No opinion 1% (-2)

CNN’s polling has never really been very good. They have overestimated Dems by around 5 pts the past 3 cycles actually. So it’s nice to see this trend, but I really don’t give much thought to anything by CNN
