It would have been much closer than real life. Blago would still be a slight favorite because of the recession/Bush fatigue, but McCain would have had a chance. Well before his arrest, Blago had an air of corruption and sleaze around him, and he's far less charismatic than Obama. Compare him to the honorable old war hero. His running mate is either Biden or Jack Reed - old hands with lots of experience in foreign policy.
