I think that Hillary Clinton taking a more liberal stance to Obama 2012 compared to Obama hurt her support among working class voters both black and white. This was especially stronger in the midwest. Which saw turnout collapse

What do you think?

People forget that Obama ran to her right on immigration in 2008, calling for a crack down on businesses that hire illegals. They both supported and voted for comprehensive reform, but Obama seemed far more keen to pitch a populist enforcement angle against big business.

Yes and immigration is starting to becoming an albatross among black dems, especially black men. Biden is lucky the issue disappeared from the public eye this election

No, but the trade issue might have. I think the main issue was that many black voters, thinking Trump had no chance, stayed home.

I could see a lot of black men loving Trump's anti PC chest thumping nationalism.
