Earlier this year, a shareholder initiative was started to create a "comprehensive policy for ensuring safe and healthy workplaces" for Amazon employees. Bezos and other executives petitioned the SEC to block it, which they did on March 27th. Six months later, 20,000 workers have tested positive for Covid. Other workplace safety issues should be noted as well, such as the abnormally high number of fulfillment center injuries (14,000 in 2019 - or 7.7 out of 100 employees, double the industry standard).

Side note, Bezos' net worth has increased by $90 billion since the pandemic started.

Pretending to care and be woke while fxcking over everyone - this is what the term 'virtue signalling' should be used for.

I just randomly remembered how John Oliver once joked that Bezos looks like it's his dream to kill someone with his bare hands (or something to that effect). In all seriousness, he does come off as someone whose sociopathy goes beyond standard robber baronism.

20,000 / 1,000,000

vs.

7.5 million / 331 million

It is slightly safer to be an Amazon employee than the general populations.

I think that this is one of the few things ardent Trumpists and staunch Berniecrats are agreed upon-that Amazon is an evil corporation, and that Jeff Bezos is one of the most loathsome corporate moguls to dwell on the face of the Earth.

... Because he invented a service that is uniquely positioned to provide people with basic supplies in this particular situation. "Profiting off of a crisis" is not a bad thing. It means he's helping people.

Do you understand how spreading works?

Rhetorical question. It's clear that you don't.
Do you understand how discussion works?

This is not a rhetorical question.

20,000 seems like a lot. But when a company has a million employees over 100s of facilities it might not be that significant.
