I answered No.

I wouldn't wish this virus on anyone, not even Trump.

I don't feel sorry for Trump.  He's done enough living for 1,000 ordinary souls.  I certainly pray for his recovery, but I'd do that even for politicians I loathe.

I feel sorry for reasonable and loyal Americans if he loses re-election, but that's another story.

https://amgreatness.com/2020/09/30/a-man-vs-the-movement/?fbclid=IwAR0WBDkpB5pjFh22_AzyODxBnIbrZcdBRUL45vRiB8_CiNY5O1RKioX_ORE

Quote from: Thomas D. Klingenstein
I know Trump has many faults. I myself sometimes cringe listening to him. He is a braggart, often misinformed, petty, and more.

And yet, we are very lucky to have him. At any other time, he might well have been a bad president. But in these times—these revolutionary times—he is the best president we could have had. No other national Republican leader can hold a candle to President Trump. I am almost prepared to say that having him is Providential. How else to explain that we find ourselves with this most unusual, most unpresidential man who has just the attributes most needed for this moment?

He has the indispensable attribute of a leader: courage. As a leader must, he goes where others are afraid to go. He has common sense, which means he generally wants to go to the right place. And he is a fighter.

If we want to save our way of life, then we should support him—unequivocally. I am. I am giving many times more than I would in a normal election cycle. This election is that important and President Trump is that good.

I support President Trump for reelection.  Mr. Klingenstein has made the case well.

Yes.

I don't wish any ill towards anyone who gets sick. People can fall ill from COVID who take precautions as well as those who don't care.

I think he believed his own lies or the lies fed to him. Will he learn from it? No. But it seems there's something pathological in that he can't seem to learn from mistakes.

I am concerned that we as a nation may not get the chance to reject him democratically.

Also, there's always a tweet:

Neither really. That he got the virus now is entirely his own fault. Even that it spread so wide in this country is on Trump. His attitude towards the pandemic has now come back to haunt him.

That said, I don't wish him ill. Everyone knowing me knows how much I detest him for obvious reasons, but he doesn't deserve to get ill or die. I just want him to lose the election in a landslide and that he'll be held accountable for his illegal actions.

I don't necessarily feel sorry for him, but I'm including him and Melania in my daily prayers.

I'd never wish illness on anybody.

I genuinely wish I was as gracious to give PQG's answer, but I'm sorry to admit my main feeling is schadenfreude. I wish I could say otherwise.

Absolutely not.  Trump has lied relentlessly about this virus, kneecapped health and public safety efforts, mocked anyone who takes it seriously, mocked and degraded Biden for his efforts to remain safe, told people it's a hoax, promoted miracle cures, told people that it's no big deal and getting it is fine, and lied that very few people are actually getting it or actually dying from it anyway.  Just Tuesday he degraded Biden for wearing a mask.

Trump defied his own advisors by holding rallies that violated all public safety guidelines.  His staff even went out of their way to prevent people from following public safety measures, by removing signs telling people to socially distance.  Trump praised people at these rallies for not wearing masks.  Afterwards, we know of dozens of people who got COVID at these rallies and died.  Died as a direct result of Trump's actions to intentionally spread the virus.

Now the consequences of his rhetoric and actions are there for all the world to see.  He can't lie his way out of reality.  It's about time someone in American politics actually suffered the consequences of their actions.

If Biden had gotten the virus instead of Trump, you know what Trump would be doing?  He'd be out on the trail mocking him relentlessly, calling him weak, doing imitations of Biden coughing and stuttering and telling people it will make his dementia worse and that he's now unfit to be president.  EXACTLY FOUR YEARS AGO TODAY, he was doing the exact same thing with Hillary Clinton -- mocking her as weak and unfit when she had a mild case of pneumonia.

By the time this pandemic concludes, hundreds of thousands of people will have suffered and died unnecessarily because of Donald J. Trump's selfish and ignorant actions.  It's impossible to imagine an individual more deserving of the virus.

I agree with all the points you brought up, but I wouldn't say he deserves the virus. At least not getting seriously ill, let alone die. Mr. Trump is a horrible person for many reasons, but he's still a fellow human being. What he deserves his election defeat and charges including fair trials for his corruption after leaving office.

I'm not gonna say that anyone deserves the virus.  But if one person had to get it, Trump is closer to that point than any other individual in the world.

No. He ignored the virus early on and now over 200,000 people have died. He has mocked masks. If you don't take proper precautions then you will get sick and that is exactly what happened.
