Mary Mallon was the first person to be identified as an asymptomatic carrier in American history, so I think she can be forgiven for not believing that she was somehow infecting people with typhoid despite not "having" typhoid herself. She clearly wasn't an FF, but she was dealt a bad hand by life and constantly failed by the doctors and public health people around her. She died an effective prisoner, before the age of seventy.
