Trump probably ends up with around 15%, Biden will get over 80%.

I can see Biden hitting 80 and Trump getting high 10s. There will be much less third party voters this year.

Republicans have turned an entire generation of LGBTQ voters (who, I believe, vote more than straight/cis people) into an overwhelmingly solid bloc of Democratic voters. Considering the group makes up around 5% of voters in most states, that's not great for them going forward.

Donald Trump could've been a turning point for the GOP on this! It's such a misstep that they didn't use this administration as an excuse to jettison homophobia.

That's terrible.
Trump is a true friend of the LGBTQ people.

These people are voting against their own interests.

I wonder if the rightward shift is a result of more people (especially from conservative areas and backgrounds) identifying as LGBT.

Well those same people probably still identified as LGBT four years ago even if they were in the closet. Plus you can’t exactly compare the results of one poll a month out to exit polling.

This is not at all a significant enough difference to conclude there has been any sort of “rightward shift,” let alone speculate on the cause of it.

Trump is a true friend of the LGBTQ people.

Is that why he opposes the Equality Act?

Is that why he appoints anti-LGBTQ judges?

Is that why he picked Mike Pence as his VP?

Is that why he banned transgender people from serving in the military?

Is that why he created an HHS office that would defend doctors who refused to give care to LGBT people?

Is that why he had the DOE eliminate guidelines that protect trans students?

Is that why he had the DOE refuse to respond to civil rights complaints filed by trans students?

Is that why he eliminated language protecting LGBTQ children participating in the 4-H program?

Is that why he allowed emergency shelters to deny access to transgender and gender nonconforming people?

Is that why he had the State Department deny visas to same-sex partners of diplomats?

Is that why he removed pages on LGBTQ rights and recognition were removed from government websites within hours after being sworn in?

Is that why he blocked questions regarding sexual orientation from consideration for the census?

Is that why he has refused LGBTQ asylum seekers fleeing violence?

Is that why he explicitly had the US leave the UN Human Rights Council over LGBT issues?

Is that why he explicitly banned US embassies from flying the pride flag in Pride Month?

Is that why he is directing the DOE to allow schools to ban transgender students from participating in sports?

Hi, we know exactly what we’re doing and Amy Coney Barrett is not a sign of friendship to gays.

Much more realistic than the Hornet poll.

Hornet has clarified that its poll was unscientific. This one was scientific AFAIK and I'm glaad to see it.

Conducted by Pathfinder Opinion Research (pathfinder is a satanist game so this is a good poll for Trump)
September 21-25
800 respondents - presumably a poll of adults (88% are registered voters and 92% say they're definitely or probably voting in the election)
MoE: 3.5%

Another candidate 5%
Undecided 2%

Among gay men who are also likely voters:
Biden 80%
Trump 18%

Among lesbians:
Biden 83%
Trump 11%

Among non-cisgender voters:
Biden 72%
Trump 18%

Presumably the non-cisgender sample is really small but that's not going to stop me from comparing their #s to the rest of the sample and shouting TRANSITION TO GREATNESS.

The difference is within the margin of error of the poll. I don't think much has changed here.

What I find interesting is that Trump did worse among LGBT voters in 2016 than how Mitt Romney had done in 2012 and John McCain in 2008; Obama won LGBT voters 76-22% against Romney and 70-27% against McCain. And this is despite the fact that Trump appeared to be the most pro-LGBT Republican nominee in memory-although his Administration's policies have adhered to traditional Republican orthodoxy on these issues, as they have on almost every issue. And this is to say nothing of Mike Pence, who was notorious for his anti-LGBT policies as Governor of Indiana. I've said before that I don't think Trump personally is anti-LGBT, but he certainly hasn't done anything to alter his Party's trajectory on such issues.

One argument I've seen a conservative used to say that Trump is pro-gay is that he doesn't think gay people should be thrown off of buildings. Apparently being against murder is now some sort of bold position.

Biden getting 80% amongst gay men is impressive. While there's a very online clique of self obsessed vainglorious gays who do the MAGA schtick, it's clearly and thankfully small.
