While I'm a fan of lemonade, personally, when I think of southern drink, I think of an iced tea. Perhaps we gather submissions and do ranked voting on the options?

Why not just do the referendum idea for a host of things? Could be a fun way to involve people.

Amendment idea for referendum:

Quote
A BILL FOR AN ACT
extending the official regional symbolism of the Southern Region

BE IT ENACTED BY THE SOUTHERN CHAMBER RESOLVED.

Section 1, TITLE.
1. The title of this Act shall be, the “Regional Symbols Act Part II: Electric Boogaloo.”

Section 2, NEW SYMBOLS.
1. Lemonade is hereby designated as the official beverage of the Southern Region.
2. Sabal palmetto, otherwise known as the cabbage-palm or palmetto, is hereby designated as the official tree of the Southern Region.
3. Pelecanus occidentalis, otherwise known as the brown pelican, is hereby designated as the official bird of the Southern Region.
4. The freshwater pearl is hereby designated as the official gem of the Southern Region.
5. Fried chicken and waffles is hereby designated as the official meal of the Southern Region.

1. During the next scheduled regional elections, there shall be a referendum vote to determine additional regional symbols for the Southern Region.
2. The following categories and options shall be voted on:
   a. Beverage - Options: Lemonade, Sweet Tea, Water, Write-In:_____
   b. Bird - Options: Brown Pelican, Write-In:_____
   c. Gem - Options: Freshwater Pearl, Write-In:_____
   d. Meal - Options: Fried chicken and waffles, Write-In:_____
3. Voting shall be does via STV method. The options that receive the most votes shall become regional symbols effective immediately upon election certification.

24 hours for objections. Once that period has passed, I say we just let people make suggestions for what else should be on the ballot (both categories and options) and then once we have enough submissions, just do one comprehensive amendment that adds everything. Will be much quicker than doing separate amendments for each proposal. I'll use my discretion as the Chair to throw out any frivolous suggestions, if there is objection we can vote on an item in particular, but  I'm fine with just about anything going on the ballot if there is a desire for it and it is reasonable.

Thank you. Due to the Governor's veto, I am proposing an amendment. Logic for this weekend is that it gives a little cushion between the RL election but not too close to Thanksgiving.

No objections, but I think we should maybe wait until the next Chamber is seated before moving on.
Why do you think so? Honestly I pulled teeth trying to get more feedback/suggestions on this and didn't get much, everyone in the next Chamber is in the current one so there won't really be a fresh voice to add to the discussion. Passing this now allows for more time for a public discussion on this as mandated in the amendment.
