Quote
The poll was conducted among registered Bexar County voters from Sept. 17-21 by phone and online in English (98%) and Spanish (2%) and has a 4% margin of error.

Was D+13.4 in 2016, and D+4.5 in 2012.

In 2018 it was D+6.4 in the gubernatorial race and D+19.9 in the senate race. If this is true we're looking at something closer to TX-SEN 2018 statewide.

It just reflects the state of the race. Will men of color "come home" or vote of Trump because of "Men's Rights"? If they "come home", it won't even be close. If Trump seals the deal with them, he will probably win, but not by as much as last time.

Biden winning TX would be a giant upset at this point. Not nearly impossible, but Trump probably carries the state by a slim margin.

Maybe they should have a larger Spanish sample considering the county...

Notice the huge amount of undecided among Indys, while partisans are all decided.

The fact that mainly males are undecided is extremely concerning.

Are these the people who think "Oh Trump isn't an effective leader, is corrupt, and has mismanaged COVID, but he said Biden has dementia so I don't know who to vote for"?

That's the common mispronunciation.

It's pronounced "Bear".

It's perplexing because, even in Spanish, that "x" would be some sort of fricative, closer to "Be-har," but it seems that locals have completely elided it, resulting in a reanalysis as a monosyllabic anglicized noun.

My work here is done.

Seriously though, if you say "BAYHER" fast enough, it sounds like "BEAR".  My guess is that the pronunciation just morphed over time.

So in other words if Biden does well in this upcoming debate and proves their perceptions about him wrong...... than trump would be in even more trouble with these same voters

Yup, same happens with places/streets with Spanish names here in California too.

Is it similar to the new-school term „Latinx“ ?

That’s not a real word IMO.

I’d just say Latino or Latina instead.

Funny. I’ve heard different people in central Texas pronounce it “Bear” and “Bay-har.”

Wait, so we actually do use a kind-of Spanish pronunciation for Bexar, but we still have Am-uh-rill-oh, New May-drid, Muh-die-nuh, and duh-moin?

No, it's part of sound change over time, particularly in a region that has experienced significant historical language shift (Spanish→English). Similar placename effects are observable all around the world with similar historical language contexts, as Holmes pointed out above.
