Hot take: This debate will be very uneventful in the grand scheme of things and will not change the election.

As much of a hot take as Biden winning DC

I don't care if these debates won't mean a damn thing or Trump supporters won't budge at all or it ends up a very boring affair. I've been looking forward to this debate all year, much more than any other debate I can think of.

I watched a bit of the Biden/Sanders CNN debate this morning since I didn't catch it when it aired. I'd be excited if even that Biden showed up today, let alone 2012 VP Debate Biden. I think he'll be fine, especially given the "closed set" format that Trump fares the worst in

Hot take: The debates won't affect the race in terms of numbers or margins, but it will light a fire under Democrats asses to vote ASAP.

To me, that's as rewarding as Biden leading with 12% more voters instead of 10%

The Trump campaign is now making the hashtag #CheckJoesEars trend

Not on my feed. "Trump 47%" is though in relation to the Georgia QPac poll

I guess the "This debate doesn't mean anything this election" take went out the window quicker than Trump got into a shouting match with Wallace

Does Trump really think talking over Joe is a good strategy lmao?

According to the folks in this thread, it's winning Trump 300 electoral votes + flipping Virginia

Judging from the responses by the left and the right….this debate isn’t going to significantly affect the polls.

Not true. Even Biden folks are losing faith and questioning their support. Trump is flipping California at this rate Roll Eyes

What’s with all these “Biden’s losing the debate” takes? He’s been piped up the whole night

Seems to have calmed down after the initial 10 minutes.

Then again, I've also muted most of the Chicken Littles

I don't care how biased or unbiased you are, Trump's answer on white supremacists was a disaster.

And yet Biden is the one "losing"

I really liked Chris Wallace moderating the 2016 debate.

Too bad this will probably be the last debate he ever moderates

much like the 1st debate in 16, Trump came out strong, then drowned.

And much like the 1st debate in 16, Democrats were apoplectic for the first 10 minutes and then became strangely quiet after he started drowning

I'm not sure about this, but Wallace was much better in 2016 then he has been tonight. Trump and Biden constantly interrupting each other has made it a difficult task for him, and his pleas for them to keep within time constraints and to avoid interruptions are falling on deaf ears.

I've know doubt he'd do a much better job if someone else was standing to his front-left. I just don't know if other folks see it that way

If I see even one person Chicken Littleing over a poll this weekend showing 1-2 point movement to Trump and crediting it to the debate, I may have to take a sabbatical here until November 4

The more Trump calls out Biden for not being a Socialist or a Far-Leftist, the more convinced I am that Biden is gonna win Texas.

I voted Bernie and even I find that to be a horrible strategy

Wallace's moderating is a double-edged sword.

He interrupts whenever it seems Biden is hitting a moment, but the constant arguing with Trump also prevents Biden from getting dragged down in this mess

I remembered this nonsense CNN trash poll from 2016, and Trump actually did better against Biden than Clinton.  From the CNN article:
"The post-debate result is about the same as the outcome of a post-debate poll in 2016 after the first debate between Trump and Hillary Clinton. In that poll, 62% thought Clinton won the debate, 27% said Trump did."
https://www.cnn.com/2020/09/29/politics/donald-trump-joe-biden-debate-poll/index.html

The Frank Luntz Panel is much better at gauging reactions.

You're right. Luntz Panels are much better at gauging reactions:

I will never forget when A Frank Luntz focus group that he claimed was made up mostly of former Obama voters said they were now supporting Mitt Romney during the 2012 election

here are some of the things they were saying at the time about mitt Romney and Obama

"Forceful, compassionate, presidential," one participant said.
"Confident and realistic," said another.
"Presidential," another told Luntz.
"Enthusiastic," another reacted.
"Our next president," one man said.
"Dynamo, winner," said one more.

"He's lied about everything. He lied to get elected in 2008, that's why I voted for him. I bought his bull. And he's lied about everything, he hasn't come through on anything. And he's been bullsh**tting the public," one member of the focus group said.

the final results of that election showed just how silly and ridiculous his focus groups are

It's almost like no one method is perfect.

Mick Foley is a national treasure

Greatest wrestler of all time, imho.
I know there won't be live events for a while, but check out his standup show when you get the chance. He's as good of a verbal storyteller as he is a wrestling storyteller
