Biden got off to a slow start, but did really well. Trump clearly was frustrated and the debate was a disgrace due to Trump just being a complete idiot.

So Trump didn't prepare at all and just decided to shout, delay, and wing it?

Biden addressed the issues, talked to the American people, stayed calm, and, not only held his ground, but he put Trump on the defensive.

Do you still think Joe Biden has dementia, Trump supporters?
He was repeating obviously scripted lines like a robot.
because as we all know dementia patients are more than capable of remembering a two hour script

So Trump didn't prepare at all and just decided to shout, delay, and wing it?

That's really the only strategy he has. He can't debate issues, so he has to try and disrupt the entire debate in order to distract from the questions.

Lmao, who let Trump Jr. show on CBS coked up out of his mind?

Especially after:
I'd say Biden won. He didn't have the best answers but Trump came off like an asshole. I was actually mildly bothered by the whole "your son is a drug addict" thing

Van Jones is right, the top three things to take from this debate are:

The President of the United States refused to condemn white supremacy.

The President of the United States refused to condemn white supremacy

The President of the United States refused to condemn white supremacy

It is just depressing that 4 out of 10 Americans are under his spell. We need to deprogram over a third of this country.

That was a national embarrassment and the GOP owns this. What they’ve done to this country.

The worst debate I've ever seen.

Trump was a child.  His tone was unpresidential.  I think this is going to go down as a huge Trump loss.

As a fan of presidential debates and politics in general, I hope there won't be any more presidential debates this campaign.  Trump makes it impossible with his behavior, and if the moderator won't keep him in check then he shouldn't be given a platform.

Agree with this, especially given how Trump used it as a platform to spread lies about election fraud. Insanely irresponsible to allow this to continue.

Biden: "No, I don't support the Green New Deal."

Such a damn moron.

Er...how would embracing that particular laundry list help him get to 270 electoral votes?

A Green jobs program that gives the base a reason to turn out? It'd do the trick.

Say goodbye to all of Biden's moderate and independent support.

Green jobs programs (including the GND) routinely poll well - more so than some of the left's other policy proposals like M4A. It would create jobs in sectors that are prominent in conservative areas like agriculture.

Not to mention it's a bit absurd to think that all of moderates/independents would just suddenly abandon over this one issue (that could bring in a ton of independents outside of the Democrat's core support) when Donald Trump has done so much to turn these voters away - including environmental/climate issues.

In a nutshell:

Trump needed to give people a reason to vote for him (people who weren't already planning to).

Biden needed to show that he was sound of mind and competent.

Trump failed, Biden succeeded.

Trump is the worst president of our lifetimes, and quite probably the worst throughout our entire history as a republic.

I am disgusted and ashamed.  Trump's behavior was absolutely embarrassing.  Americans, regardless of politics, should condemn this kind of crap.

I don't think either of them did particularly well, but I'll go advantage Biden. Trump needed to land hits tonight, and he didn't.

Once it’s seriously considered and given proper scrutiny those “good” poll numbers will crumble like dust. And you know what polls even better than M4A? A Public Option.

My wife who like me hates Trump but is more Democrat-leaning than I, thought Biden didn't show well as a good public speaker, and asked who else is running.

Just giving my thoughts here, I haven't seen the pundit commentary or the snap polls. Firstly, what an awful, messy debate. It was so frustrating how Trump, and to a lesser extent Biden, kept interrupting so it was hard to focus on the point being made. Chris Wallace did ok as a moderator, maybe he should have cut off Trump's mic but he's probably already going to be called a Biden hack so I understand why he didn't go that far. I'm not a swing voter, but in a sane world this should be a Biden win. Trump was so stupid and incredibly disrespectful, it did a big disservice to the voters. He seemed to be spewing out a constant stream of deranged rants. Biden was not perfect, neither are great debaters, but he got in a few good big points and reinforced his message well. Biden didn't make any big mistakes, and I think he handled Trump fine by being dismissive but not losing his cool or being knocked off balance. Biden's poll numbers should remain the same or go up after this.
