This is tough considering the sample size. In general, this sort of process happens to those with left leaning economic views but moderate to conservative social views. If I could guess, it’s mainly among white college students and graduates who became left wing due to higher education putting them in precarious situations but who have been resistant to accepting those different from them and realize, or admit, the caste system in place giving heterosexual white males structural advantage or the “privilege” railed on about in recent discussions.

Its kind of the ersatz leftism adopted by Greedo apparently when he experienced precarity along with the removal of his structural benefits due to his parents kicking him out, but inverse.

I've veered very far left in a way that most haven't really noticed because on the 'culture war' issues which even this forum has hyper focused on for two decades, I've always taken the 'open' side regardless of my politics elsewhere.

The more socially connected we are and the more distanced we are from being able to affect mass capitalism, the chances are this sorting will continue.

To be fair, Bloomberg's (noted Democrat) Super PAC dumped millions to save Toomey in 2016, and I think Gabby Giffords' PAC also spent a lot for him, because of the Manchin-Toomey bill. Anyways, it's perfectly possible that PittsburghSteel is the stereotypical Romney/Clinton voter and has swung solidly Democratic.

Yes I think his views change when he comes across as alt-right. He's always drifted between being far-left and far-right.
