Jewish voters are not a monolith - Orthodox Jews tend to be more conservative and thus vote Republican, while Reform Jews tend to have assimilated into society and thus be more liberal and vote Democratic. The latter group comprises a larger portion of the overall Jewish population in the US; they were attracted to the Democratic Party's pro-worker policy platform in the first half of the 20th century, and they've also been turned off by the contemporary Republican Party's focus on Christians over other religious groups.

Plus Jewish people tend to live in urban areas which exposes them to more diverse experiences and backgrounds. As well, having a cultural history of pogroms and genocide  tends to make you much more empathetic towards others who have been through similar tragedies.

Because we tend to live in urban areas which are more liberal, and we don't particularly like cultural conservatism, which we see as a white, Christian identity that has little appeal for us.
