Here is another interesting segment in the NYT ...

Quote
His daughter appears to have received some of these consulting fees, despite having been a top Trump Organization executive.

The Times investigation discovered a striking match: Mr. Trump’s private records show that his company once paid $747,622 in fees to an unnamed consultant for hotel projects in Hawaii and Vancouver, British Columbia. Ivanka Trump’s public disclosure forms — which she filed when joining the White House staff in 2017 — show that she had received an identical amount through a consulting company she co-owned.

Sounds like tax fraud to me.

So is this the Comey Letter equivalent to Trump's campaign?

The problem with all you coastal liberals is that you're using this tragic violation of a family man's privacy to poor-shame him for not having his financial affairs in order. Newsflash, libs, normal people get into financial troubles all the time, and Donald Trump is no different.

Trump sold his candidacy to voters based on his record as a successful businessman.

It turns out he is a failed businessman.

Dems need to be blaring this message over the last 5 weeks. "You've paid more for rent in 2 months than Donald Trump's paid in taxes for 2 years"

Or more simply: you and pretty much everyone you know has paid more in income taxes than Trump has in the last few years.

That is a poor defense for the President of the United States not paying taxes. He is not a victim.

I can't wait for this story to do absolutely nothing to Trump's approval rating.

Not seeing any traction with this amongst my Twitter or Facebook friends tbh.  I don’t think “October surprises” will matter this year.  The American people know who they are voting for, nobody is really undecided.

Absolutely disgusting. The NYT continues to intrude on Trump's privacy and personal life - why can't they just focus on policy? He's under enough pressure and stress as it is. The folks over at the Times need to learn a little decency.

As an infinitely superior President and human being said "If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen."

holy crap, this is awesome (and long! Pack a lunch if you plan on reading this)

my favorite bits so far
Quote
He reported paying taxes, in turn, on a number of his overseas ventures. In 2017, the president’s $750 contribution to the operations of the U.S. government was dwarfed by the $15,598 he or his companies paid in Panama, the $145,400 in India and the $156,824 in the Philippines.

<snip>

Transcripts of his main federal tax form, the 1040, from 1985 to 1994, were obtained by The Times in 2019. They showed that, in many years, Mr. Trump lost more money than nearly any other individual American taxpayer. Three pages of his 1995 returns, mailed anonymously to The Times during the 2016 campaign, showed that Mr. Trump had declared losses of $915.7 million, giving him a tax deduction that could have allowed him to avoid federal income taxes for almost two decades. Five months later, the journalist David Cay Johnston obtained two pages of Mr. Trump’s returns from 2005; that year, his fortunes had rebounded to the point that he was paying taxes.

When the truth comes out, patriotic Americans will love Trump even more, because he'll still be exactly what they are and aspire to be - living beyond his means and avoiding taxes. (in his case, most likely legally, unlike his supporters) Nobody dreams of being a billionaire, they dream of being able to act like a billionaire.

Waiting for Republicans trying to justify this and for Horus/Tender et al. trying to spin this as good news for Trump.

It is not good news for Trump. I don't think it'll shift the numbers either though.

Remember 48 hours ago when folks on this board tried making "silly bastards" some bombshell discovery?

I have a feeling those same folks would complain that this is a 'nothing-burger'

i mean this is old news by now he can just say he went around the tax laws that could of been changed by obama/biden admin but they did nothing

Even if it's technically legal for him to pay so little tax, it doesn't make it right. He has an obligation to support the rest of society, that helped make him so successful in life. He doesn't care about other people, he just sees ordinary working people as chumps who should have to pay more instead or get less from their government.

What about the other billionaires like Jeff Bezos and others? They pay their employees like crap while they are racking in millions in gains weekly. They use the government to their benefit - the rich are benefited by the government tax laws which need to change and nobody in the past has tried to change it. this isn't trump's problems its a problem that needs to be fixed. Do i think this helps Biden? Probably not
Bezos is an evil man, too. They all are. Billionaires, that is

$750? I have donated more than that to Democrats during Trump's presidency and I am just a blue collar working stiff.
