Here is another interesting segment in the NYT ...

Quote
His daughter appears to have received some of these consulting fees, despite having been a top Trump Organization executive.

The Times investigation discovered a striking match: Mr. Trump’s private records show that his company once paid $747,622 in fees to an unnamed consultant for hotel projects in Hawaii and Vancouver, British Columbia. Ivanka Trump’s public disclosure forms — which she filed when joining the White House staff in 2017 — show that she had received an identical amount through a consulting company she co-owned.

Sounds like tax fraud to me.

If he'd paid her that money as a salaried employee, she'd owe payroll taxes on it and have to pay income taxes on it all that year. Pay it to her LLC and it's business income that she can probably zero out through her own tax chicanery.

And, if you saw the post on the prior page with a Tweet (I re-posted it, above), you will see that it seems that the trump company involved, may have made a double tax deduction for "Ivanka's services."
Once in her standard salary as an executive for said trump co., and then again as an "outside consultant."
Something is rotten in the state of Denmark.

The best way to weaken Trump's WWC support is to (honestly) depict him as an out-of-touch rich man that loves to fire people and that exploits tax loopholes at the expense of hardworking folk. Working class people (including much of the white working class) hate that stuff. It was an audience in Iowa that jeered and booed at the "Corporations are people, my friend" line, remember?

The moment I remember most from the 2016 DNC was Biden's dissection of "You're fired". I'd love for him to bring it back somehow during the debates with as much fire & with the reveal of these tax returns (+ obligatory 'malarkey')

Beginning his victory speech with "Donald Trump, you're fired!" is the way to go!

It’s highly probable Donald Trump is spending his campaign money on personal recreational or legal expenses. This is just another thing that will drain the expenses of GOP donors, and I’m guessing they know that.

Unless some serious rigging happens, this is likely the end.

The truly horrible parts are all the licensing agreements from foreign governments to Trump and all the background deals with foreign governments.

That stuff just reads like downright banana republic level corruption.   I can't believe there isn't outage about all that stuff.    The deals with Turkey and Philippines are pretty awful.

NYT got 20 yrs of Trump’s taxes and they’re what you’d expect. Very liberal with his deductions. He’s very deep in debt and only paid $725 in fed taxes in 2016.

The $750 thing is obv gonna get the most buzz but I think another story here is how high the stakes are for him personally in this election:
 - Over $400 million in obligations that are coming due over the course of the next Presidential term, and no obvious way to pay them
 - $73 million tax refund under IRS audit
 - Reams of legally dubious stuff uncovered, ranging from sketchy ($70k hairstyling tax write-off) to weird (mysterious 20% consulting fees padding every property) to blatant criminality (saying he was broke to the government but saying he was rolling in it to banks)

That’s almost more important than the electoral implications: if he does lose, this guy is absolutely cooked. Completely broke, and public enemy #1 for every white-dollar prosecutor in NY/FL/DC

An NYT reporter on twitter claimed there will be more to come out "in the next few weeks", I assume his net wealth is one thing they kept to release later since it wasn't in the article.

Since most of his properties are mortgaged to the hilt I bet he is worth less then 1 Billion, and then he has all the tasty debts, tax debt, and tax penalties he must pay...

Not seeing any traction with this amongst my Twitter or Facebook friends tbh.  I don’t think “October surprises” will matter this year.  The American people know who they are voting for, nobody is really undecided.

These revelations would have completely doomed any previous President's re-election bid. Why do we give Trump a free pass?
Because he's a beast.

10 pages in and our brave blue avatar friends have come up with "paying less tax than a truck driver is cool!" and "my friends aren't talking about this" (yet).

He's over $300M in debt despite cheating the system in his favor. He ran for President to boost his brand & now he's using the presidency to enrich himself. He's not a beast, he's a f**king loser.

Having debt as a businessman is normal, not necessarily a bad thing.

That's not normal.
