DA is the lesser of three evils, but if I were a South African citizen I would abstain. Despite my ideological leanings, as a white person I could never bring myself to vote for the EFF
Interestingly enough, the EFF has shown a willingness to prefer to work with the DA in certain situations. Very odd.
This is not untypical for countries with a dominant party system, as is the case in South Africa. If the choice is between perpetual opposition and getting into bed with your theoretical worst enemies, minority parties will often do it (Ireland and Japan have thrown up examples of this tendency in the past).
Or most amusingly, when Stephen Dion, the king of Quebecois federalism tried to form a coalition with the seperatist Bloc Quebecois.
