Fed Up, These Black Americans Say It’s Time To Get Out Of The U.S.

Quote
Devon Kitzo-Creed, a 28-year-old African American woman, always planned on leaving the United States to live abroad. Definitely before she had children, but probably not until she was in her 30s.

2020 pushed up her timeline.

Now she and her husband, who live in Wilmington, Delaware, are planning on relocating to Ecuador right after the election. She’ll continue her work as a doula and childbirth educator. He can work remotely as a video editor and animator.

Why the rush? “The way things have gone this year, the political climate of our country, and just the way that I do not feel valued at all in this country,” Kitzo-Creed explained.

This is about as likely to happen as all the celebrities that said they would move to Canada if Trump won in 2016

A woman recalled asking a repairman at her home to put on a mask because of the pandemic. He told her, “We won’t need to do this after Trump wins the election.”

I'd rather we make the Trumpists leave. I can think of a few places they could go:

Hungary
Poland
Israel
Russia
Saudi Arabia
Brazil

The US does not have the required characteristics required for a developed country to have negative migration.

With that being said, I know a black American guy living in Japan who loves it because there's "very little racism" compared to what he experienced in the US. Let that sink in.

No country would take us in mass quantities. Otherwise people would already be doing it.

No country wants a mass of immigrants, regardless of where they're from or who they are, just showing up at the door.

Conservatives would absolutely love this. It's like their wet dream. And yeah, I do expect a massive uptick in fleers.

I doubt it. For starters, a lot of Americans don't have passports, have never left the country, and probably have no interest in doing so. But if there was, I think it would just be to Canada, with maybe some to the UK and Ireland.

The number of possible destinations would be very limited, since I assume most people aren't want to move to countries that are less developed or have a significant language/cultural barrier. That pretty much just leaves Canada, the UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. For most people, Australia and New Zealand are just too far away for comfort.

Canada is obvious because of proximity and lack of significant cultural differences. The UK also fits to some extent. In the past few years, I've noticed a trend where more and more British and American students are attending college on the opposite side of the pond. Maybe that prompts more people to stay.

Unlikely. but I hope so. While other developed countries have problems too, the US is just a backwards garbage dump.

No, but going abroad via studying is very underrated. I applied to a number of schools in Germany that were tuition-free even for non-EU/EEA students, just a few hundred Euros in semester admin fees, and it has very generous immigration laws if you graduate from a domestic university.

You get to save money, get a great education, and see the world. I think most people just don't think about doing this because it's so uncommon.

No, I don't think a significant number will do so.

I have been thinking of getting a second home abroad, but it would be difficult to manage for a number of reasons. I don't think a lot of people are willing to put themselves through a dramatic economic and psychological change for anything less than an extreme increase in their quality of life.
