Someone in one of the 9000 small college towns in Iowa. Probably identifies as a "moderate" and works a little too hard to be "centrist." Sinema energy in a way, but with a slight hint of populism.

Briefly got swept up in the Tea Party movement in the early 2010s, then got swept up in the general anti-establishment fervor of 2016, then went back to voting D as a reaction to Trump.

A Midwestern working class Democrat who often votes with her pocket. Voted for Reagan in '80 and '84 due to the economy, then switched back to the Dems in '88 and went for Perot in '92 for his staunch protectionism. The good economy again determined her vote in the following elections, convincing her to leave Perot for Clinton in '96 and stay with Gore in 2000.

She votes for Bush in '04 on national security issues and four years later the Wall Street crash convinces her to reluctantly choose Obama, whom she dislikes for his "elitism". She then goes for Romney in 2012 thinking he will do better with the sluggish recovery. In 2016, she intended to vote for Trump until the Access Hollywood tape and ultimately opted for Stein, since she couldn't stomach Clinton's trade stances and cultural liberalism. Dismayed by Trump's mismanagement of the pandemic and attracted by Biden's pro-union musings, she votes for the latter in 2020.

An anti-Trump Mormon who is liberal on domestic issues and conservative on foreign policy.

Votes for Carter because he perceives Ford as weak on national security and too conservative on domestic issues.
Votes for Reagan reluctantly in 1980; distrusts Reagan but dislikes Carter's mismanagement of the economy even more.
In 1984 he votes for Reagan because of a rebounding economy.
In 1988, frustrated over the farm crisis and Bush's support of the death penalty, he reverts to the Democrats and supports Dukakis.
In 1992, votes for Perot; as a Mormon, he does not like Clinton because of the Paula Jones case and considers him too moderate on some issues.
In 1996, liking the actions Clinton has taken during his first term, he votes for Clinton.
In 2000, he votes for Gore/Liebermann over Ralph Nader because he likes Gore's social and economic liberalism and Liebermann's foreign policy hawkishness.
In 2004, shaken by 9/11 and supportive of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq (and thinks Kerry is weak on national security), he votes for Bush.
In 2008, he is torn between Obama and McCain (McCain is a war hawk while Obama is a dove; but McCain is a social conservative who doesn't know how to fix the Grea Recession), and ultimately supports Obama.
In 2012, he votes for Romney because of his and Romney's shared Mormon faith.
In 2016, he supports Stein because he doesn't trust Clinton but detests Trump after Access Hollywood.
In 2020, goes with Biden because he dislikes Trump strongly and thinks Biden will be a good president (also trusts Biden more than Hillary Clinton).
