https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/joe-biden-accuses-donald-trump-silence-dictator-lukashenko-belarus-n1241177

Quote
Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden on Friday chided President Donald Trump for not speaking out about repression of democratic protests in Belarus, a country he said is being run by a "dictator."

More than 12,000 people have been arrested and hundreds remain in jail, since President Alexander Lukashenko was declared the landslide winner of an Aug. 9 presidential election that the opposition in the former Soviet state denounced as rigged.

In a statement emailed to Reuters, Biden sided with demonstrators' "peaceful expressions of freedom" and demands for new elections.

Biden, a former vice president and Senate Foreign Relations Committee chairman who has had testy clashes with Russia over eastern Europe, also insisted on the release of several named opposition leaders whom he called "political prisoners."

"Yet President Trump refuses to speak out against Lukashenka's actions or to offer his personal support for the pro-democracy movement," Biden said, using an alternate spelling of the Belarusian politician's name.

This negates calling the troops stupid bastards imo. Biden is really making it hard for Leftist voters to be fully in his camp.

My experience with a Belarusian friend of my girlfriend suggests so.

Lukashenko is a puppet of Putin so Trump would never say anything against him. Nobody said anything about starting a war, but it doesn't hurt for the President of a country that considers itself to be superior to every other country to speak up in favor of democracy. In foreign policy the United States refuses to recognize illegitimate governments all the time but doesn't go to war over it.

Belarus

Don’t think many people have even heard of this country, and with all the trouble we have, I believe Americans want to focus on themselves before getting nosy and dealing with other countries’s problems. We are not the world’s policeman.

OMG TRUMP HOW DARE YOU NOT START MORE WARS?

November 3rd. Tick Tock.

Lukashenko is the Left’s DILF. What lady or man could resist that stache.

I know this reply is a joke, but do you actually support him?

In any case, that guy actually at one point said he prefers Tikhanovskaya to Lukashenko, but I don't know. He used to say he didn't mind Lukashenko, and he likes to call himself a Communist.

Good move.
Biden, attaching trump to Putin/Russia, is a winner (every time).

It says a lot that you think "speaking out against Lukashenka's actions" - the exact wording he used - constitutes starting a war.

The red are the anti-Lukashenko countries. The green are the pro-Lukashenko countries. You tell me which grouping Leftist voters, or anyone else in America, would rather be part of.

No, Lukashenko is a dum dum who brought this on himself for 25 years of failure. Y’all should know trolling when you see it.

Anti-lukashenko voters are pro-Trump mostly.

There is zero evidence of this being true. The opposition in Belarus is largely centre-left. Oftentimes even more left than that, one of the largest opposition parties in the country are Marxist!

So yesterday Biden was doing this, and today he did an interview where he compared Trump to Joseph Goebbels.

Whatever happened to the lid?  SO last news cycle!

Well oddly they have no links to Communist Parties outside of Belarus and are pro-privatization. 🤔

In all honesty the situation in Belarus resembles other Colour revolutions in Eastern Europe Kleptocracies like Serbia or Ukraine where it’s more of a inter-bourgeois class conflict. Many of the major players in the protests were employed in high places before they decided they could prosper without Lukashenko. Porn Stache man himself represents the elite that has the most time alienating 95% of the population, which is why the trade unions and workers are so desperate they’re willing to try out something new.

The problem is that we could get another Hungary or Ukraine on our hands after the revolution succeeds, or the country could devolve into civil war. Most factions are far, far more close to parties like GERB in Bulgaria and Erdogan in being “conservative Democrats” than in Western Europe where they have less ability or want to create similar situations.
