r/OpenChristian and r/feet

I doubt anyone's written in a subreddit before, so you could be making history with those.

FWIW I think an actual scientific analysis of those subs and wikifeet concluded the celebrities with the best feet are Emma Watson and Emelia Clarke. However neither is an American citizen.

Interesting, why is America losing the foot race to the British?

You could go with one or more of these:

excessive hyperbole
FF
a certain resident of Bakersfield
Jessica Walterstein
I will now accept my accolades.
272 freiwal
Sunbelt Stack
air hub theory
Congrats Phil
my 10 year old daughter
focus on Christmas
anti-pro-heterosexual
discuss with maps

Though my personal favorite would be:

I've never seen that many judges on a ballot. That has to be a cushy gig, right?

I've never seen that many judges on a ballot. That has to be a cushy gig, right?
Minnesota uses a judicial district based system where there's no such thing as county or city judges, the state is divided into 10 judicial districts and cases can be presided over by any judge in the district meaning judges handle cases in a wide swath of counties in the rural districts. The 4th district is coterminous with Hennepin County so that's not the case here but it does mean that the entire court system in Hennepin County is presided over by judges elected county-wide, none are only in certain areas or appointed by county or city officials. And since judges are elected to six year terms that means effectively a third of all judges in each district are up each election, in the 4th district that's for a county of over a million people which has more than five times the population of some rural districts, so that's a lot of judges.

And yes it is a pretty cushy gig since as you can see they almost always run unopposed and it basically becomes one they can't lose. Even open seat elections are rare, if a judge retires (which they're required to at age 70) a replacement is appointed by the Governor and they can run once the term ends most likely unopposed. Only if a judge opts to stand down and not run at the end their term does an open seat election occur and that's rare, I've had like two such elections on my ballot in the past ten years. And defeating an incumbent judge is also incredibly rare, only one incumbent judge lost in 2018, in District 2 (coterminous with Ramsey County which includes St. Paul) and that was after he had a DUI in early 2018. The last incumbent judge to lose prior to that was in 2010 and he also had a scandal involving steering divorce cases toward a law firm he had a debt to in exchange for a discount on his own divorce case from (unsurprisingly he had been suspended from the bench prior to that election.)

By a weird error/fluke, you'll be the only voter, so all of your picks will win AND move to Minnesota and serve in their new jobs.

In all seriousness, it's a bit of a shame that write-ins don't actually count unless the person being written in has consented and is registered in the state. If Jerry Springer can be a judge, then so should Seth MacFarlane, dammit!

Every state should adopt the Pennsylvania write in rules! Make them actually tally our votes!

Instead of blanketly voting for write-ins against all unopposed judges, wouldn't it make more sense as an informed voter to research the unopposed judges' judicial records, vote for the ones whose records you're okay with, & vote for write-ins against the ones whose records you're not okay with?

As for judicial write-in options: Anthony Kennedy, David Souter, & Sandra Day O'Connor.

That's be an awful lot of work and most of them just handle things like divorces or trials of minor crimes. I do vote for the liberals on the Minnesota Supreme Court including Paul Thissen.

I can only speak for myself, but I've never voted for an unopposed candidate for any office except in 2018, when I voted straight-ticket Democratic to Send A Message. Otherwise I have a BRTD-like attitude towards write-ins; in 2012, for example, I wrote in Aragorn for the US House and Neo-Queen Serenity from Sailor Moon for some state office or other.

I used to do write ins a lot more when I lived in Davidson County (mostly national conservative figures for county offices that were uncontested).  Since moving to Williamson County, I've only voted write-in once, in the 2020 GOP Presidential Primary.

Judges shouldn't be elected positions anyway. The fact that states like Minnesota hold mostly unopposed elections for judges that deal with routine cases and are voted on by an uninformed populace is only more reason to abolish them.
