https://bnonews.com/index.php/2020/09/ron-paul-suffers-apparent-medical-emergency-during-live-stream/

“The incident happened just after 12 p.m. ET on Friday when Paul, who is 85 years old, was speaking about the economy on his YouTube channel. His speech became slurred and he was visibly struggling to speak. T he YouTube feed was cut short and made private and there was no immediate word on what happened. Fox News said the former congressman was taken to hospital as a precaution.”

Hope he’s okay, wishing the best for him and his family Sad

A pretty terrible man with some terrible views. Still, if he were still in office, he might have been one of the only who'd speak out against the orangutan-in-chief. Hope he recovers.

He’s the one who got me out of GOP orthodoxy and start seriously thinking about issues. Up until early-mid 2011 I considered myself a staunch Republican. Paul helped crack that foundation which moved me to libertarianism, which started my evolution towards being a pretty mainstream liberal today.

I’ve moved away from his views ideologically a good bit, and looking back I see how overly-simplistic and harmful his policy ideas were, but there aren’t many people more authentic and real than him. Hope he recovers.

His goldbug paleo-libertarianism was a gateway drug for many people to the Alt-Right.

He's right about foreign aid and the racist drug war.

He was the only GOP candidate in 2011 who talked about the criminal justice system

What Bronz said, and about foreign wars also.

Ron Paul is a Massive FF, not because he's right about everything, but because he has always been willing to step outside the box and act on conscience and principle.

Well, my Grandfather is just over 90. I hope Ron too can be as fortunate.

FWIW stroke treatment has gotten a lot better if you're able to get timely medical attention.

In some cases they can start interventions as soon as the patient is in the ambulance on the way to the hospital.

Ron Paul is a man I deeply disagree with. But his views are not immoral, like other *consistent* libertarians. He reminds me, in many ways, of Ralph Nader - I admire his deeply independent thinking, and I consider him a good man, if not always a nice one.

He is a rabid racist and antisemite though?

The newsletters are understandably controversial. Certainly, I hesitate to approve of the vast majority of Ron Paul’s pals. However, he himself being the author of it? It’s a charge that I don’t regard as overly likely. Even a surface level analysis of it reveals multiple authorship, and a high probability that he did not write those article themselves.

Granted, if new evidence manifests that he is the probable author and overturns the current consensus of multiple authorship, I will freely admit to it. I am hardly an uncritical admirer.

Glad he's doing better.

Ron Paul is a complicated figure for. I find him, on the whole, easily preferable to just about any other (modern) Republican politiican you could name, including his son. His economic policies would be devastating for the most part, but I give him credit for standing up to both parties when they're wrong on foreign policy, drugs, and government surveillance.

Personally he's very socially conservative and I think a lot of that can be chalked up to his age and what the country looked like in his youth versus the way it does now. He's much more of a paleocon than a libertarian and I don't think any honest person can say otherwise.

He also surrounds himself with a lot of kooks, but so does Bernie Sanders. But they've both stood up to their parties when they were wrong and I have to admire both for that. If our domestic policy looked a little bit more like Sanders' and our foreign policy looked a little bit more like Paul's, we wouldn't have so many of the problems we do today. In fact, I would love to live in a two-party system that resembles that of these two men, respectively.
