I get your frustration Griffin, but this conversation really doesn’t belong here as long as you’ve pushed it. Normally I wouldn’t say this, but maybe discord is a better fit for this conversation.

Honestly I was just quasi-trolling with my couple of comments in the thread, but the whole "post-WW2 Jewish-Americans are just as hard-off as African-Americans" BS needed a response.

Still, I hate to say it but you’re best off discussing Corbyn on Discord considering how such discussions usually go down

Not a fan of Corbyn but he's no longer relevant and a pretty weird thread derail. Shut up about him.

The irony is that Corbyn wasn't brought up in this thread out of a genuine whataboutism; he was brought up by Griffin, who was acting as though Trump's garden-variety stereotyping somehow erases the numerous instances in which Corbyn either expressed or tolerated Antisemitic views or praised people who kill Israelis.

It was mostly deleted, along with most of my responses, but he did something very similar in the thread about De Blasio's menacing comments to the NY Jewish community in April.

The more interesting and real part of this saga is that he’s mentioning this now and not, well, then where it would be more relevant.

Half of the Hasidim in New York won't even get vaccinated, and they were having funerals and slaughtering chickens like we weren't literally in the middle of a pandemic. I can certainly understand why DeBlasio lost his patience. If you want to live like the Amish, move to Kiryas Joel.

What makes Trump different is that when he assigns old stereotypes to Jews (they're greedy and obsessed with money; they don't care about anyone outside their group; they're crafty and deceitful), he's regarding those as good things.

Suggesting that American Jews are more privileged than black Americans is not antisemitic, it is a cold hard fact. It takes some gall to think otherwise and quite the persecution complex.

I'm referring to the fact that Griffin brought up Corbyn in the first place.

We had several posters calling him the second coming of Strasser every time he sneezed. It was a little bit petty but it made sense to bring him up.

To be fair, I was tipsy and just being facetious. Nevertheless, if people want to argue that his affiliation with a party has as much/less association with anti-semitic tropes than the leader of one in this country overtly expressing them himself, then I'm more than willing to engage.

I'm not really interested in seeking to quantify or force-rank the antisemitic attitudes of Trump, Corbyn, Bill de Blasio, Ilhan Omar, or whoever else. I think antisemitism is increasingly an area where (The Fringes Of) Both Sides Do It and I tend to presume that accusations of antisemitism are being made in good faith unless they're obviously absurd. That's all.

This smacks significantly of the same sentiment that says it's OK to talk about black men having large you-know-whats and being better in bed. After all, those are "good things" - but they directly lead to a plethora of other stereotypes and tropes being reinforced in negative fashion.

Jdb didn't draw an equivalency between the African-American experience and the Jewish-American experience. You aren't fooling anyone with this faux-outrage routine.

And especially if certain mods want to compare themselves to black people being denied jobs, income and their very lives, I'll certainly engage in a far more serious manner.

Sure he did. No need to even make such a comparison unless comparisons were attempting to be drawn. I can talk about my forms of personal discrimination and/or experiences of rural life, LGBT life or any other number of anecdotes without needing to mention people of color as a comparison point. It's way too common in this country for a plethora of groups to try and draw a line (direct or otherwise) to BIPOC to generate some type of empathy. If the experience(s) are comparable, then fine; if not, they need to be called out.

Independent of that, I'm not going to be lectured about my views by the likes of you.

Yeah, he drew a comparison. Not an equivalency. And it might shock you to learn this, but I neither know nor care about which identity groups you happen to fall into. I am just genuinely astonished by the views expressed in this thread by the GA avs.

Trump just dislikes anyone not voting for him in large numbers. When it comes to Jews, he's probably disappointed because he believes to have been the "greatest president for Israel in history". So American Jews are ungrateful in his opinion. Typical attitudes of a narcissistic psychopath.

He's still not 1/1000th as dangerous to us as Corbyn was. Was, because the wretched old bigot lost and is now irrelevant. Baruch Hashem.
Ah right you were the guy who said Corbyn was the reincarnation of Hitler and was gonna kill every Jew in Britain. Why should we take you seriously?

You know the people who say things like "Jews will start swinging hard to the Republicans because they respect Israel and the Democrats have Ilhan Omar"? This is why we roll our eyes at those kinds of threads.

Just ask yourselves what groups you might belong to that will be on the Republican blacklist tomorrow, even if you're not on it today.
