Note:  the Federal government actually shrinks anytime a Democrat is in office.

Abortions also go down.

Yet for some reason, people who want a smaller government and fewer abortions keep voting for Republicans.

It should also be noted that this poll appears to include all Federal Employees, including DoD and USPS Employees... (Although quite possibly excludes Military Federal Workers not classified as "Civilian").

The exact number of Federal Workers is a bit debatable because of FTE methodologies, but appears to include about 2.1 Million Non-Military and Non-Postal Workers... as well as likely about 500,000 "career" USPS employees and 136k "Non-Career".

https://www.governing.com/gov-data/public-workforce-salaries/postal-service-usps-employment-number-of-employees-by-state.html

Contrary to conventional wisdom and assumptions, the vast majority of Federal Workers do not reside in Maryland, DC, and NoVA....

In fact as a % of the work-force they appear to be disproportionately concentrated (outside of DC,VA, & MD) in many heavily Republican States....

Many small rural counties in Oregon and Western United States (for example) are heavily and disproportionately represented by Public Sector jobs (and frequently by Federal jobs associated with land and resource management)....

Who would have guessed that the group of people who asked not what their country could do for them, but what they could do for their country are going for the old-school northeast Catholic Dem?
