time heals all wounds. People apologize for stuff. We apologized for the bomb in Hiroshima. George Wallace apologized. Nunn apologized for DADT. Robert E. Lee's descendants have apologized. Biden apologized for his questioning of Hill and the crime bill. That's all I want. I know McConnell never will but he *fingers crossed* will be dead in 20 years. Maybe some of the younger senators will. I would also hope that some of Scalia's grandkids/great grandkids, just based on the sheer size of them, will also apologize for him. See here for an example: https://www.lagunabeachindy.com/heart-talk-10/

For the record, it doesn't have to just be republicans. Maybe Ayanna Pressley or Kamala Harris apologize for the incendiary stuff that they certainly have done.

Sometimes time heals wounds and politics someday will be at a less insane juncture. Dave Mason has two great songs that encapsulate this feeling: "We Just Disagree" and "Let It Go, Let It Flow"

Exercising your legal right to fill a seat on the Supreme Court is not comparable to the atomic bombing of Hiroshima.

This - and there are plenty of worse atrocities that have never been apologised for. A power grab is not remotely on the same level but even if it was, I wouldn't hold my breath.

The United States did not apologize for the bombing of Hiroshima and has zero reason to apologize for it.

The U.S. has never apologized for Hiroshima. They did for Japanese internment - maybe that is what OP was referring to?

Either way, the point of "apologizing" for actions that you yourself were not the cause of or directly participated I'll never understand. No one alive today is responsible for internment camps, the atomic bombings, Southern secession, etc. Expecting Scalia's descendants to apologize (for what, exactly?) on his behalf is likewise absurd

Maybe the scalia name needs to be a scarlet letter. Automatically refuse to employ. Especially if textbooks describe him in a certain way. I would feel some catharsis if some of his descendants turned secular. Sort of schaudenfreude

I want an apology from all the Never Hillary voters, and liberals who didn’t support her in 2016.

You’re the reason we’re dealing with this crap now.

Also: anyone who is Never Biden in 2020.

Weird, very naive thread. I'm not expecting many apologies from current conservative politicians and judges over their decisions the past few years, certainly not any that they make a huge public show of, and most certainly not from their families. OP's second reply is just bizarre—what's with this sins of the father malarkey?

This kind of pointless whining is why people stay home in the first place. It's no different than whining about China with COVID--it's nothing but bitterness and does nothing to get us out of the situation we're in.

Reagan passed reparations to the Japanese Americans in 1980s, that's why AA wanted Bill Clinton to passed Reparations, when he won with a Dem Congress

Number 2, Lee Harvey and Robert Oswald were cousins of Robert E Lee, they didn't apologize for JFK assassination.

However, Robert Oswald and Marguette said Lee Oswald ruined his kids life, where they can't appear in public ever and none of their children have

Being a troglodyte and having that many children is offensive. The way to counteract the religious right/homeschooler types is to create a generation of Pavlik Moroslovs (or Claudia Conway and Bob Goodlatte Jr in the modern parlance)

Why Scalia in particular?  I may not have agreed with his decisions but from what I've heard he sounded like a fairly principled person (even if those principles did not line up with mine)

I'd rather get an apology from Senate Republicans.

It doesn't have to be him. Getting Leo's kids (he has 7 so hopefully you can find one defector) to basically denounce him (and potentially leak secretive organizational info) would also do wonders. When Hofeller died, his daughter basically put out a massive data dump of all his plans.

You’re the reason we’re dealing with this crap now.

Also: anyone who is Never Biden in 2020.

On the first part, lay some of the blame the Dems for not wanting an actual open primary and forcing everyone to step aside so their designated successor could have an easy path--something that would've been unnecessary if Hillary was actually somebody who could win in the first place. I knew as far back as 2006 (and I have the posts to prove it) that she was incapable of winning a GE.

Also not sure why there's this insistence on blaming liberals/the left rather than the trash who helped nominate Trump and voting for him in the first place--surely they can't be free of blame.

But I agree 100% on the bold--for the anti-Trump people, there is no excuse.

To OP: you need help and your replies in this thread are showing you are no better a person than Trump himself.

This topic started off being confused and disjointed and only went downhill from there. I'll be putting this one out of its misery.
