It was first mentioned a few hours after RBG's death. If the House sends impeachment resolutions, the senate is forced to drop everything else and start  a trial.
And frankly, Barr and DeJoy have fully earned it.

Wow, this would be full scale war. While Barr has definitely earned it, the Republicans would probably go nulear at all fronts against a Biden Administration.

However, couldn't the senate just reject articles of impeachment by a simple majority vote in a matter of days?

It'd be much less of an "escalation" than court packing.

They will do that anyway if they somehow keep the senate.

If they keep doing separate impeachments, enough to delay it until January 3

This seems like a good idea for me. They could always do separate impeachments. Impeach for corruption, emoluments, COVID, etc for Trump. Impeach Barr. Impeach Kavanaugh for perjury, etc. Just keep on jamming them through.

They're going to go nuclear on all fronts against a Biden administration no matter what happens.

The GOP has been playing the "it's technically legal" game for far too long with far too little pushback. My only concern is that it's coming at the same time as the GOP is in the process of deciding that even "technically legal" isn't something they need to be concerned with anymore.

I believe that a re-impeachment of Trump will be the only effective way to delay the SCOTUS vote.  Get Cyrus Vance and the District Attorney's office to indict Trump for bank and tax fraud in the coming week.  There are available witnesses and plenty of evidence to support these charges.  Impeachment resolutions follow immediately.  Keep the impeachment hearings and resolution focused solely on these criminal charges.

The Senate is then stuck and will be forced to act on this.

I think that McConnell and the GOP's hypocrisy on SCOTUS has opened up a can of worms that they have no idea how to deal with. Even if successful in stealing this seat, Supreme Court decisions won't be taken seriously again for a generation. Delegitimizing both the Senate and the courts will be McConnell's legacy.

Nothing says that the President can be impeached only once. This could be the real November surprise. Make him defend himself again.

Pelosi is worried about impeachment instead of doing her job and passing the bi partisanship compromise of 1.5 T package. What a waste of time. This is what you get when Unions are in charge

Just like she rushed to donate to Hoe Kennedy instead of passing stimulus vote. No one cares about Ujraine impeachment,  it had the lowest viewership. Its involves international campaign crimes like Iran Contra

No one cares about Ukraine impeachment,  it had the lowest viewership and there is a 1.5 T stimulus package

This is all moot if the Senate votes before the election, which it likely will if Mitch gets the votes.

Took about five months, didn't it?  This will get us to a new administration and you can forget about impeachment after that.  At that point, let Vance and crew press the charges to get Trump and his ilk in prison.

Not necessarily. Simply impeach Trump before the election. It would be a brazen political play, and voters wouldn't like it, so it might complicate Biden's election... but maybe it gives Biden a chance to "differentiate himself" from the "radical Democrats." Just pondering aloud.

I always thought that Trump's "play it down" comments were grounds for impeachment.

Impeach Trump for his Covid-19 response.
That will allow the focus to shift back to his failings and remind the American people of just how f**ked up Trump has been this year.
It also means Biden can run on an issue Trump is widely unpopular on.

Would McConnell just immediately call an impeachment vote and that would be the end of it?

The point is that there will be a constant stream of impeachment resolutions that will clutter senate's schedule.
