1140 likely voters
MoE for likely voters: 3.5%
Changes with July 7-10

Cornyn 46% (+2)
Hegar 41% (+5)
Someone else 3% (-1)
Not sure 10% (-5)

Would not vote previously at 1%

Kinda weak Cornyn hardly gets over 50% in any poll. He's still favored though. A strong Lean Republican.

Cornyn actually underperforming Trump’s vote share slightly. Pure tossup.

NUT? Sad

Cornyn is a despicable Trump/McConnell puppet who’s sold out to big pharma and the insurance industry and a shameless Washington hypocrite who’s going to turn the judiciary into a right-wing dictatorship, but I’d be lying if I said his county maps don’t arouse me or that MJ Hegar's tattoos aren’t a complete joke, so I’ll consider him (one of those undecideds [who’s strongly leaning toward Cornyn tho]). 46% + the 3% coming home + the 10% breaking for Cornyn + no Beto effect = NUT.

IIRC, Cornyn hasn't broken 50% at any poll, certainly not after the primary.

If Hegar can consolidate a lot of the major undecideds, which lean D here, she could make this a real race.

Would have 100% been winnable if Beto or Castro had run. Damn.

One of the most interesting questions in this poll almost 50% of voters think Joe Biden is too liberal and almost 50% of voters think Trump is about as conservative as they would like. In fact, 70% of texas voters believe Trump is either conservative enough or not conservative enough. Only 30% believe he is too conservative.

Results like this make me really think a lot of the anti-Trump vitriol in the suburbs and in places like texas is an identity politics thing. I question whether that will last forever, especially once Trump is gone.

If the GOP nominates a Nikki Haley type figure... poll results like this make me think a lot of these subrubanites, who still appear to hold conservative values, will vote for the GOP again.

Possibly, but does this in turn make places like Iowa competitive again?

This is what makes me think that the Texas GOP will hold up better downballot than people on here are expecting. Sure, they'll probably lose TX-23, and at least one of TX-22 and TX-24, but I doubt Democrats will take the state House or pick up more than 3-4 congressional seats. These people may not like Trump, but will still happily vote for their GOP State Rep.

The suburban voters voted for a guy who wanted to abolish ICE, so no, I don't think they'll have a problem with the candidates running now. The burbstomping will continue.
