Probably Lagoa. The optics of Dems filibustering a woman of color would not be good.

You are incorrect in your assessment.

This does sound like identity politics. Why can't he pick someone based on their merits?

And none of you can stop it! 🇺🇸

Yep, and none of you can stop us from killing the filibusterer, adding in some new states and then packing he court or neutering it once we have the senate and presidency.....

At least it won't be Tom Cotton

Regardless, the rallying cry and primary goal for Democrats in the coming years must be "2 More Justices, 2 More States!"

Republicans don't care. They just wanna win at any cost. Even if it means going against their own words.

The Election isnt gonna be resolved on Election day due to VBM anyways, it's likely going to the Supreme Court which a new Justice would rule on contested ballots.

The elimination of the filibuster after Ds net the majority, Bob Casy Jr, Manchin and Sinema, who have been coy about indefinite unemployment benefits have reservations about eliminating filibuster.

What happens when Rs comeback in power, they would reduce seats on SCOTUS back to 9, from 11, and if you eliminate the filibuster they can do it. Cruz and McConnell said they would do it, too, in 2024

The one thing about Lagoa that makes me pause is her age. 52 is not that old, but if you are cementing conservative control over the judiciary until the end of time, why not go all out? Allison Rushing is fifteen years younger...

She looks white, and Lagoa isn't a particularly intensely Hispanic-sounding name. Most people won't notice or care. It might even improve the Democratic Party's standing among those who have abandoned it because they hate identity politics.

Yeah it will be Barrett. I don't know why half of Twitter erupted initially upon Ginsburg's death into thinking it would be Cruz even though he's expressly said he's not interested in the job.

Personally I can't wait for the days when politicians, both left and right, stop pandering with this "I will pick a woman/minority" song and dance for some coveted position, although sadly those days might only come long after my death, or the end of the republic (whichever comes first)

Because Trump doesn't give a sh!t about that. It's all about him, not conservatism.

I think Trump's top priority is just how someone would rule on him, and he probably regrets Gorsuch despite him having a strongly conservative record for the most part.

I said some younger black voters could support him. Mostly younger men dissatisfied with both options. This was before his campaign rally and continued breakdown.
