Thought it was a good idea to make this idea in which we have our own supreme court make-up taking place at any point in American History. Here's an example I have right now :

Chief Justice : Ted Cruz (Appointed by President Trump, March 1st, 2023)
Associate Justice : Sonia Sotomayor (Appointed by President Obama, August 8th, 2009)
Associate Justice : Elena Kagan (Appointed by President Obama, August 7th, 2010)
Associate Justice : Neil Gorsuch (Appointed by President Trump, April 10th, 2017)
Associate Justice : Brett Kavanaugh (Appointed by President Trump, October 6th, 2018)
Associate Justice : Amy Comet Barrett (Appointed by President Trump, November 4th, 2020)
Associate Justice : Lynn Toler (Appointed by President Trump, August 7th, 2021)
Associate Justice : Amul Thapar (Appointed by President Trump, May 17th, 2022)
Associate Justice : Joan Larsen (Appointed by President Trump, July 16th, 2024)

The Supreme Court, September 21, 2028
Chief Justice John G. Roberts (Aged 73, Appointed by W. Bush in 2005)
Associate Justice Clarence Thomas (Aged 80, Appointed by H.W. Bush in 1991)
Associate Justice Elena Kagan (Aged 68, Appointed by Obama in 2010)
Associate Justice Neil Gorsuch (Aged 61, Appointed by Trump in 2017)
Associate Justice Brett Kavanaugh (Aged 63, Appointed by Trump in 2018)
Associate Justice Amy Coney Barrett (Aged 56, Appointed by Trump in 2020)
Associate Justice Jacqueline Nguyen (Aged 63, Appointed by Biden in 2021)
Associate Justice Barbara Lagoa (Aged 61, Appointed by DeSantis in 2025)
Associate Justice Justin R. Walker (Aged 46, Appointed by DeSantis in 2025)

Barrett is confirmed after VP Pence breaks a tied Senate vote in October 2020.  Although Biden is elected in 2020, the GOP retains a narrow 51-seat majority in the Senate - thus dashing any hopes of a Democratic "court packing" plan in 2021.  VP Kamala Harris breaks a tied vote in September 2021 to confirm Jackie Nguyen as the first female POC to sit on the High Court (the earlier confirmation of Ketanji Brown Jackson is withdrawn after Manchin and Sinema came-out against her nomination following a rocky confirmation hearing).  Justice Sotomayor retires/dies in 2024, and an expanded Republican Senate majority (still under the control of Mitch McConnell) refuses to consider a Biden nominee that year.  Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is elected president over Harris in 2024, and he swiftly moves to seat Cuban-American judge Barbara Lagoa to succeed Sotomayor.   Conservative stalwart Justice Alito announces his retirement at the end of the 2025 term,  to which DeSantis nominates Justin R. Walker of the D.C. Circuit.

From the perspective of 2020, the Court in 2028 has a 7-2 conservative majority with the "moderate" Gorsuch/Roberts/Kavanaugh bloc often representing the majority opinion.

No one has credibly accused Kavanaugh of sexual harassment or assault since he's been in public life.  It would incredibly bizarre for such allegations to come-to-light after he's already been run through the SCOTUS confirmation gauntlet

I question if Trump still wins in 2016 in this scenario. It seems like the open seat was a deciding factor for a lot of his more reluctant voters and without it being open I’m not sure he could pull off his narrow victory.

The Supreme Court during the case of Daniels v. Bishop, which upheld Bishop's executive order that stayed the release of the animated adaptation of Dreadnought in the US (I might cover the controversy if a general, non-election-related infobox thread were made). Don't ask how the executive order doesn't violate the 1st Amendment. You're not ready. Plus, I haven't thought of a constitutional case for it besides dooming.

Chief Justice: Brian Sandoval (Appointed by President Jack Kemp to replace Justice William Rehnquist, 2005)
Associate Justice: Mike DeWine (Appointed by President Jack Kemp to replace Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, 2006)
Associate Justice: Thomas Hardiman (Appointed by President Jim Rappaport to replace Justice Antonin Scalia, 2016)
Associate Justice: William Weld (Appointed by President Jim Rappaport to replace Justice Anthony Kennedy, 2017)
Associate Justice: Jim Hood (Appointed by President Jim Rappaport to replace Justice Stephen Reinhardt, 2018)
Associate Justice: Amy Coney Barrett (Appointed by President Dan Bishop to replace Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, 2020)
Associate Justice: Allison Jones Rushing (Appointed by President Dan Bishop to replace Justice Sonia Sotomayor, 2021)
Associate Justice: Ben Shapiro (Appointed by President Dan Bishop to replace Justice Xavier Becerra, 2022)
Associate Justice: Barbara Lagoa (Appointed by President Dan Bishop to replace Justice Stephen Breyer, 2023)

Greens are moderates, blues are conservatives, bold is swing vote.
A constitutional amendment gives a determined term length of 12 years to justices, with sitting justices being grandfathered in. Sandoval and DeWine were renominated by Rappaport in 2017 and 2018.

In an alternate universe, Richard Nixon’s conspiring with Anna Chennault to derail LBJ’s attempt for a Vietnam ceasefire is revealed prior to Election Day and results in a Humphrey presidency.

Arthur Goldberg is nominated to replace Earl Warren as Chief Justice.

Homer Thornberry is renominated by Humphrey after Abe Fortas resigns (as in our universe).

After the death of Hugo Black and the resignation of John Marshall Harlan in September 1971 (as in our universe), Archibald Cox and Shirley Hufstedler are nominated/confirmed.

Humphrey/Muskie are re-elected in 1972 (the economy is doing well and detente with the Soviets is popular.  Humphrey negotiated withdrawal of American forces from Vietnam by 1970).

William O. Douglas resigns in 1973 and is replaced by Attorney General Ramsey Clark.

In 1976 Howard Baker defeats Edmund Muskie for president.

In 1977, Potter Stewart resigns and is replaced by Lewis Powell.

The Court in 1978:

William Brennan
Byron White
Thurgood Marshall
Arthur Goldberg (Chief)
Homer Thornberry
Archibald Cox
Shirley Hufstedler
Ramsey Clark
Lewis Powell

Fascinating to imagine what decisions this Court could have made after 2005 (and especially after 2018 with Kennedy being replaced by Kagan)
