Christie had great approvals for a Republican in NJ before Bridgegate and was seen as the Republican favorite for 2016 at that point. However, Booker was a popular rising star as well on the Democratic side. How would a 2013 NJ "Clash of the Titans" go?

Christie wasn't going to lose in 2013, pre-Bridgegate. Booker was undoubtly a better candidate, but would still have lost by 8-10 pts. Christie wins 54-44%.

Christie still wins, but the race is much closer, as this is a battle between two very popular politicians.

Chris Christie/Kim Guagdano (R) 49%
Cory Booker/Lisa Jackson (D) 48%
Kenneth Kaplan/Brendan Bell (L) 2.8%
