So Tina Smith underperformed in her Senate race this year, but it looks like that was mostly because Kevin O'Connor, the Legal Marijuana Now Party candidate got almost 6% of the vote, which would typically be votes that go to the Democratic nominee. Why did O'Connor do so well?

I'm honestly shocked by how well they did.

Keyword, Minnesota, weird stuff always happens there. Those legal weed parties are running left appealing campaigns on behalf of the GOP so they can have a chance to win.

If he didn't run, what would Smith have gotten? I would guess it would be about a 52/46 race.

The race wasn't treated as competitive by most involved parties so a lot of voters felt free to back third parties.

Poor Lewis got shunned for John James who didn't even match the average Congressional R overperformance.

Collin Peterson also would have kept it in single digits if not for Legal Marijuana and Grassroots parties.
