I don't think I've ever seen "thing" reanalyzed as "think" in this context. It makes sense that someone would write that, because "thing" and "think" would sound the same in spoken speech before /k/. But I haven't seen it.

It might interest you to know that "think" was actually the original expression, while "thing" is an egghorn. Nevertheless, I agree that the new version is better and makes more grammatical sense.

I know "think" is technically the correct term, but it never sounded right to me as a noun/gerund. I prefer "thing."
