The House has recently passed a bill to force them to use Navy ranks.  Obviously they should be allowed to chose their own ranks and Congress should butt the hell out, but if you got to chose, which way would you go.

I'm an AF vet, so I went that way.  The fact that they were pulled out of the AF and are still a subsection of the AF also pays favor the AF ranks.

I don't care, hopefully it gets shut down when the bloated military budget finally gets the contraction it deserves.

God, how I long to see a future of space imperialism. The Dutch Milky Way Trading Company will force little green men to mine asteroids for platinum. The American military will annex Jupiter. Britannia shall rule the stars.

A Space Force is inevitable, although I never would have prioritized it at this moment.

Voted Air Force ranks but changed my mind.

If you're LARPing, you might as well do it in style.

Neither. Cut the military budget and get rid of it.

I was Army.

And goddamn.   Navy ranks confused the HELL outta me.   To this day, I really don't get it.

If you want really confusing, go with French-style navy ranks. (To be fair, they made more sense back in the days of sail.)

But army ranks aren't all that coherent considering that a major outranks a lieutenant, but a lieutenant general outranks a major general.

Other: They should adopt the rank structure of the Royal Air Force.

whoa, I've never considered this before.  (the reason is as boring as one would expect, so boring, I'm not even going to bother cut and pasting it)

I worked with a few of their MPs on deployments.

Mid-30s.  Over a decade in the military.

Agreed, the reasons why the ranks are the way they are is boring, which is why I didn't include them either. Still, my favorite rank of all time is corporal captain, which you may have seen on the Radar.

Depends on whether you've talking Deep Space 9 or Star Trek: V'ger.

Deep Space 9 = proud

Star Trek: V'ger = pathetic abuse of time travel and alternate time lines

Star Trek: Voyager is the greatest of all time.

I like how all their excursions to Earth turned into Stevie Nicks videos.

Greatest example of wasted potential. My biggest gripe is all the times they blew up Voyager only for it to be undone by having it happen to an alternate Voyager or by a survivor going back in time to change the past.
