Week Three

Monday, December 7
Old Dominion @ James Madison

Tuesday, December 8
Creighton @ Kansas
Purdue @ Miami (FL)
North Carolina @ Iowa
Ohio State @ Notre Dame
Vanderbilt @ SMU
Illinois @ Duke

Wednesday, December 9
Maryland @ Clemson
Providence @ TCU
Louisville @ Wisconsin
NC State @ Michigan
Oklahoma @ Xavier
Michigan State @ Virginia
Indiana @ Florida State

Thursday, December 10
San Diego State @ Arizona State
Wofford @ South Carolina

Friday, December 11
Villanova @ Georgetown
Nebraska @ Creighton
St. John's @ UConn
Iowa State @ Iowa
Marquette @ UCLA

Saturday, December 12
Illinois @ Missouri
Cincinnati @ Tennessee
Florida @ Florida State
Syracuse @ Boston College
Notre Dame @ Kentucky
Mississippi State @ Dayton
TCU @ Texas A&M
Oklahoma State @ Wichita State

Sunday, December 13
Penn State @ Michigan
Richmond @ Kansas
Texas @ Baylor

And reupping:
1. You have 45 32 games this week.  That's a lot, and starting from Monday leaves little time to get picks in.  I suggest that in future weeks, you limit it to 25 games (same as the football pick'ems) and skip the early part of the week.  That is, start selecting games for the upcoming week from the upcoming Sunday and work backward through the week until you have 25.

2. That format makes for some very long posts.  How about using a more compact listing
First off, the Monday game got canceled, so we're actually at 31 (assuming no more cancellations)

In this case, the large number of games, is more so we actually have 25 games played this week.

As for the format, I can experiment with another format next week (which given it is finals week for most schools/beginning of Winter Break, should have a somewhat smaller schedule.)

Make that 27 games, and counting:

Vandy-SMU is canceled.

Louisville-Wisconsin is postponed.

N.C. State-Michigan is postponed.

St. John's-UConn is postponed.

It's more an issue of timing than anything — tough to only have a day or two of turnaround on these.

Kansas State was clobbered at home by Division II Fort Hays State.  It was the first time in 20 years that a non-DI school beat a major conference team on the road.

So everyone picked Kentucky, which is not looking too great right now (33-11 Notre Dame, 9 minutes left in first half).

Florida's star player, Keyontae Johnson, collapsed during the first TV timeout and is in critical but stable condition at a Tallahassee hospital

If Kentucky doesn't come back against Notre Dame, maybe then we can start talking about John Calipari's job status.

Well, this is quite possibly the worst Kentucky team of my life. Worst of the Calipari era at least, including the NIT team.

He’s still a Hall of Fame coach, still has brought us a lot of success and I’m not sure who could replace him anyway. UNC sucked last year but no one called for the head of Roy Williams. I’ll give him a pass for now, but I hope next year he focuses more recruiting players who can actually shoot and play basketball well rather than just getting the most “athletic” guys he can find. Some of these guys might improve and stick around too; this year is the first time in a while we have effectively NO returning players. So I still have hope that next year we can pull a quality team together. But yeah I’ve pretty much given up on this year already.

How bad this is just makes me even sadder March Madness 2020 got canceled though. Our team was peaking at the right time to make a great run.

You know, I might have spoken too soon. We’ve shaved a 20+ point deficit to just 6! Hell of a run in the second half. Not sure what Cal said in the locker room at halftime, but must have worked.
