This is hardly surprising to those of us who have been paying attention, but to have it on tape is a big deal. It will be a surprise to a lot of less-engaged voters.

Trump's lies on this virus should be considered the biggest presidential scandal since the Pentagon Papers.

My initial reaction to the tapes is that Trump does care about the welfare of COVID patients, but has a horribly warped view of how lying to them actually is a good thing.

Probably nothing just my two cents, horrible stuff.

Probably a lot of focus on the "I didn't want to cause a panic" line meaning that Trump didn't want to cause more harm by having people freak out or something.

Unfortunately, this isn't going to erode Trump's support among his base. As I said elsewhere, Trump could throw a baby into a crockpot and still garner >40% of the national popular vote. But it will motivate anti-Trump voters to show up at the polls and to vote him out.
