MB/Ted Bessell for President: Join the Evolution

It's a great day to be running for President.

The past couple days have been days of odd shenanigans (which I'm complicit in), unexpected twists and turns, and classic bickering. A perfect time to announce a presidential campaign - sneak a little bit under the radar while still maintaining relevance. But I'm obviously not the only one who decided on this strategy - both Ninja and DTC have announced their own campaigns in the last day or so as well. And I wish them well, of course, but we're in it to win it.

This isn't my first time running for President. I've tried it before and it didn't quite work out as planned. In fact I've considered running in (or actually ran in) just about every presidential election in the last two years. But this time isn't like any of the rest. There's none of the calm and quiet of the past year. The atmosphere is much more similar to that of two years ago - when I got elected vice president the first time. So now more than ever we need order in the midst of chaos.

If I'm elected President next month, I'll work from day one on getting smart and sensible policies passed. I'll detail those more in the platform I'll put out soon. But we're gonna be a change from the past administration - don't mistake yourself, I like and respect Pericles but I'm my own thing. Everyone who knows me knows that. And that's why I've chosen the slogan Join The Evolution.  Because I'll lead Atlasia on the evolution to a higher plane of existence. We'll transcend dimensions and usher in a new golden age of peace and happiness.

With that being said, let's get this campaign rolling!

Building a Fair Economy

• Secure fair housing as a right for all citizens
• Massively reduce college and higher education tuition and relieve existing debt
• Implement workplace democracy with elected CEOs and boards for publicly traded companies
• Put research into life extension and also cures for diseases such as cancer and diabetes
• Remove profit model from pharmaceutical drugs to focus on cures instead of lifelong treatments
• Ban patents on pharmaceuticals and medical technology
• Research weather alteration technology to prevent natural disasters such as hurricanes
• Implement controlled burns to control wildfire spread
• Repeal zoning regulations requiring single-family units, also repeal restrictions on businesses such as restaurants, food trucks, and marijuana dispensaries
• Replace sales taxes with increased taxes on the wealthy
• Lower income taxes for people not in the top brackets
• Encourage unionization by banning anti-union propaganda from corporate workspaces
• End the exploitative guest worker program
• Nationalize energy and telecommunications companies
• Gradually raise the minimum wage to $20 an hour by 2030 and end the discrepancy in wages for tipped workers
• Continue stimulus until the end of the coronavirus pandemic and pass a Universal Basic Income
• Build off of the Red-Green New Deal to ensure a sustainable future to combat climate change
• Penalize companies who utilize overseas sweatshops

Building a Free Society

• Ban use of human microchips and phone company sharing of location data
• Remove most public surveillance cameras
• Ban facial recognition technology
• Ensure government transparency by releasing files on UFOs, other conspiracy theories, and Cold War-era CIA operations and experiments
• Eliminate income and job-based barriers for immigration
• Ban use of tear gas and rubber bullets by police
• Reduce the scope of occupational licensing, especially for jobs such as barbers and interior designers
• Eliminate youth curfew nationwide
• Repeal any existing regulations on free speech and assembly
• Abolish the Department of Homeland Security
• End militarization of the police and of agents at the border
• Abolish the death penalty in the military and abolish life imprisonment
• Ensure internet transparency by ending unjust censorship online
• End civil forfeiture and detention without trial

What is your position on possums?

I saw a possum on my fence when I was like 7 years old. Now it was just there for maybe a few minutes but that memory stuck with me ever since. That was the last living possum I ever saw. I've seen plenty dead ones on the road. So I guess you could say I'm a centrist on the possum issue.

3. Will Ted Bessell usher in an ITALIAN FUTURE? He is more suited than most.

4. Since Pericles is the Plague of Athens, suggest a nickname I can use when MB inevitably becomes president. The Hoxha of the Cascades?

2. High bail by presidential order for people I really don't like, no bail for everyone else

3. As a non-pasta eater myself I'm not so sure how I feel about an ITALIAN FUTURE. If that's Ted's thing maybe he'll convince me to back it. I could be persuaded either way.

VICTORY SPEECH

Thank you, thank you, thank you everyone. It looks like I won. Well, that's just great. I love winning. So much winning we're getting tired of winning. But I won.

So I'm not one for long speeches. I've already written 3 essays today and I'm tired of writing. But thanks to Ninja for running a spirited campaign. Thanks to the opposition for actually putting up a unified ticket this time.

I hope to do a lot in my next term. The best is yet to come!
