Red Wing is kind of a nice town. We do an annual Ingress meet up there.

I might swing by and get a Biden cookie.

Buy 3,000 of them and really screw things up for the pro-Trump bakery owners.

Even worse, reveal that they're for a same-sex wedding after they have all been made already.

It's easy and perhaps correct to wave this off as hearsay, anecdotal, unrepresentative of the state of Minnesota, and the country as a whole. But honestly, this is evidence of some relevance for the "shy Trump" theory, along with the boat parades and banners and signs that dot many working-class communities.

People publicly and loudly displaying their love for Trump is evidence of the "shy Trump" theory??

Also, apparently the boaters are “working class.”

This means nothing by the way. Biden won the Iowa corn kernel poll, lost Iowa badly in the primaries. This kind of thing is as far from scientific as it gets.

If anything the reason more Trump cookies are selling this year, in addition to what has already been said (strong R area, Trump voters are anything but “shy” and like to go all-in on s—t like this, etc.), could be that Republicans are still more likely to go out and buy things like bakery cookies during this pandemic. Democrats may think it’s not worth the risk for something so frivolous, and people who are really struggling right now obviously have higher priorities and aren’t gonna throw their money away on novelty cookies.

Most Trump supports are voting for Trump because they like Trump, and most Biden supports are voting for Biden because they don't like Trump. Since there is an option to not pick either cookie, people who aren't particularly keen on either candidate will do so.

Particularly amusing considering that Biden won Red Wing by 6 points on the back of a 5 point swing.

The Biden cookies were probably old and stale, and hidden under the counter.
