Radcliff is a small town in Hardin County, Kentucky. It's located south of Forth Knox, and is from what I understand something of a military base town.
What I'm curious about is Radcliff's voting patterns. The town is surprisingly Democratic; it gave Obama 55% in '08, and even in 2016 Clinton won it, with 48.7%. If Radcliff wasn't a base town this wouldn't be too surprising as it's about a third Black, which would be enough for a Democratic lean given the comparative Democratic-friendliness of Kentucky whites.
However, given that a decent percentage of Black residents of Radcliff are probably soldiers stationed at Fort Knox, this gets a bit more confusing, since many of them might vote absentee elsewhere or just not vote. Plus White soldiers are generally hyper Republican. Why then is Radcliff so Democratic?
