Don't know that I can really break it down like that, but suffice to say that 2001 through about 2003 I strongly approved, then just sort of approved through 2005 - and *some* of that might have been by default around 2004 and 2005 because the alternative was and still is far worse. Lately (mid 2005 to the present or so) I have been fairly to very disappointed. Bush's appointments to the Supreme Court have been about the most likely things to get my applause. Oh, that and social security reform.

Did you strongly approve, approve, disapprove, or strongly disapprove of the president's job performance at the following times?

January 20, 2001: Not sure
June 10, 2001: Approve
September 14, 2001: Approve
November 5, 2002: Not sure
March 24, 2003: Approve
June 2, 2003: Approve
December 10, 2003: Approve
November 2, 2004: Strongly Disapprove
January 20, 2005: Disapprove
July 22, 2005: Strongly Disapprove
October 6, 2005: Disapprove
November 3, 2005: Disapprove
April 1, 2006: Strongly Disapprove

At least to my best memory.  The first two or three years my opinion went back and forth so I can't say for sure.  The 2004 election season and the war changed my mind the most.  Since then some stupid economic moves on Bush's part and other things have pissed me off.  I'm not gonna lie and say that I've never liked him or anything he's done, but my approval of him never did come back once it left.

I've Strongly Disapproved the whole time except for a few months right after 9/11 when I went into a patriotic bliss and pretty much forgot that we had parties. Then I woke up, and started disapproving again.

I can't really break it down in the way that Philip did, but: Starting out at Disapprove because I was still a partisan Democrat back then Wink, shifting to Neutral in 2001, to Strongly Approve after 9/11 and settling back down to Approve for 2002 and early 2003, moving to Neutral again mid-year or so and staying there all the way until 2005, when this piece of crap was enacted into law and pushed me into Disapproval (but not Approval of the Democrats, either), which is where it has stayed since then, even though I approved of both Roberts and Alito being picked for the Supreme Court (the latter case reminding me yet again why I don't Approve of the Dems Wink ). If anything, I give everyone a Strongly Disapprove over the Dubai Ports Issue, from all parties and institutions alike. Tongue And nothing has really changed since then...

Agreed, the legislation that you cite was quite bad. Another perfect example of how the Republicans are so reprehensibly tied to corporate interests.

Was not that bill basically changing the law to what the credit card companies wanted it to be? Is that not corporatism?

I said nothing about corporatism, so how was my "definition" interesting?

Making a change in the law that credit card corporations want is not necessarily corporatism. Bankruptcy laws are anti- free market, so weakening them is capitalistic.

We shall have to agree to disagree on the definition of corporatism, then. And your last sentence...from a personal perspective, you really, really, don't care about the working class, do you? Maybe when your life experiences go beyond "upper-middle-class-suburban-Yuppie-economic-conservative" will you understand how horrible your view is...
