He doesn't actively want his supporters to die, but I do think he doesn't care about the risk to them and satisfying his ego is his top priority instead.

It goes a little farther than that, I think. The loss of individual supporters nationwide is a calculated sacrifice in order to get a portion of the electorate to believe that life is back to normal.

I think there's even more to it than that: the rallies are a key element of Trump as a politician. Trump rallies are fun. They make the participants feel like they're part of something. They send a message that Trump cares about his base, the forgotten men and women of America. There's a reason why he holds them in small towns where it's the biggest thing that's happened in years. And he's at his best when he's in front of a crowd, basking in their adulation. He flails without them, as we've seen this year.

By the way, it might interest you to know that Reagan lost our recent 1980 mock election in r/neoliberal — got trounced by both Carter AND Anderson in fact. And multiple recent highly upvoted memes and posts have mocked and attacked Reagan for his handling of AIDS and Iran-Contra in particular.

So anyone who sees “neoliberal” and thinks that means the sub is full of Reagan stans is mistaken.

Indeed, repeated surveys have shown most of the sub identifies as “center-left” even over “center.” It is definitely a sub that skews left, just not Bernie left.

And I prefer it for being big tent and not dogmatic, much for the same reasons I like this place in fact. Even if they infuriate me to no end, I like knowing that there are dissenting voices to my left and right which are tolerated. “Purist” forums that shut down all dissent quickly become echo chambers and are no fun at all.

Chris Murphy has a tendency to say "controversial" things, putting it mildly, and is one of the most ardently outspoken and anti-Trump Democrats in Congress. Moreover, he comes across as an arrogant prick in his media appearances. However, Trump has said much worse, far more frequently, so I can't carry the outrage too far. And Trump's Tulsa rally, as almost everyone acknowledges at this point, was a mistake, and almost certainly was the major cause for Herman Cain's demise.

It's deliberate in the sense that he doesn't give a s*** about his own supporters' well-being. He's sort of right but he's implying that it may be part of some grand scheme or something, which is never the reality with Trump. The guy can't think more than a minute ahead.

By this logic you could also say Biden is deliberately killing people via the BLM protests.

You are already doing that. Biden has gone from being senile to a socialist to a murderer.

This is space-brain "logic."

When has BLM killed even a tiny remote fraction of 183k people? And it seems like it's the Trumpists bringing guns and opening fire on people.

Is Biden personally organizing BLM rallies?

Y'all I was being sarcastic. I know the BLM protest organizers aren't trying to kill anyone (at least not by covid) and I know Biden isn't responsible either.

Sorry I sparked some controversy though.

There have been so many bad takes around the internet it's getting hard to detect sarcasm.

Trump deliberately killed Herman Cain to spite this forum out of pure jealousy. To those of you who think that's okay, please tell me how you are able to sleep. I'm an extreme insomniac and could really use the advice.

Sen. Chris Murphy is an ID10T.

Listen to this recording, at about 0:40, in which he completely misrepresents Neil Gorsuch's supposed views on "Originalism."

My opinion of Sen. Murphy was already pretty low after that nonsense, and now it is getting even worse. One of the dumbest U.S. Senators there is.

"Deliberate" may be stretching it a bit. It's just that he doesn't care.

We all know Trump sucks Chris, no reason to be all hyperbolic. This guy literally only cares about making guns illegal and keeping taxes as high as possible for the middle class while simultaneously opposing universal healthcare. A big war hawk too iirc. The worst kind of corporate Democrat, Dems like that are the reason I'll never have a red avi.

You sure the real reason isn’t that you are a Trump concern troll who is constantly talking about how he is destined to win?

I’d fact check you on your ridiculous claims about middle class taxes and healthcare, but it would be pointless and since you are obviously not a good faith poster, wouldn’t be worth my time.

Don't you post on r/neoliberal? 😂

I hate Trump but I'm not living in 1992 like you.

Your purported matrix scores make it seem like you would fit right in there. Hell, they are more “neoliberal” than mine are. I post there, yes, but am to the left of the average user. Who by the way is significantly to the left of the textbook “neoliberal” anyway. The sub was started to use the name semi-ironically as a reaction to having it hurled at us (who used to just be considered regular old liberals) from socialists online. Most of us are just mainstream Dems, more or less. But it’s a big tent sub. FDR and Reagan represent the extreme ends of left and right that make up the sub, more or less, which is good because that’s about where the Overton window should be.

That said, I’ll own the charge of living in 1992. Was a great year. 90s were a great decade. W f—ked up everything, Obama was blocked in most of his attempts to fix it by Congressional Republicans, and Trump has of course made everything infinitely worse. I’m not saying the 90s were perfect in every way, especially not by today’s standards, but returning to that level of stability and less polarization would be a start, at least.

Anyway, my main beef with you is that you continue to insist Trump is destined to win despite any and all logical arguments and evidence to the contrary. If you really hate Trump, I find it hard to believe you would so relentlessly make these uphill arguments that are a major stretch at best. Even if you’re the defeatist kind of liberal/leftist, I’d expect you to just say your gut still thinks Trump will win but you hope you’re wrong. But that’s not what you do. You find every little possible cherry to pick to defy the mass of evidence to the contrary, then when called out just continually move the goalposts. That’s what sets off the concern troll flag for me.

Trump is down but far from out. Obviously I hope I'm wrong but no reason to put that in every post. The mass of evidence leans towards Biden but many posters are also far too confident in the ability of the average American to not fall for demagoguery. I'm just trying to add some balance and prevent this forum from becoming too one-sided, as I've stated before nationwide polarization has even spilled all the way down to talk elections.

I'm an alt center leftist. I support free healthcare, heavily funded public education, troop withdrawals from everywhere and a focus on supporting small businesses by breaking up monopolies. I'm also pro UBI, pro 2A and very much a centrist on immigration. I also believe in a healthy balance of globalism and nationalism. My p.m. scores probably are the same as a lot of neolibs but my views, approach and issues of importance are usually quite different.

-You claimed that Kanye West would pull 10-15% of the youth vote and at least 5 points from Biden (didn't happen.)
-You claimed that Trump's executive orders would give him a 5 poimt minimum approval rating boost (didn't happen.)
-You claimed Trump would get a large boost from his announcement of using plasma to treat Covid as a "major breakthrough" though it's been done for months. (didn't happen.)
