Mr Silwa anyways is going to do more better with younger black and Latino men than ethnic white men

You think Sliwa will do well with young Black men? Isn't that Adams' main bloc?

What will the Russians/Italians of south Brooklyn vote in this race

Sliwa. Adams is black and they don't like black people, also they don't like de Blasio and he and Adams are allies.

Just like how Adams will do well with the Afro-Americans/Caribbean of Brooklyn and Queens, they don't like white people, and Sliwa reminds them of Giuliani.

It may be racially polarizing at the end but Adams wins by 40 points, probably, and probably loses Staten Island by 3 points

I don't believe in white genocide, you want to know why that word is a thing, it is because of crazy leftwingers, even you with all respect who think if you throw shots at white Americans that it will end the racial divide, it's not......

Yes, a lot of Black voters in NYC don't like white people, that is a fact. That is why segregation exists. Yet, Adams will probably win the white and Black vote so at the end of the day it will not matter. de Blasio won the white vote as well...the last Republican to win the white vote was Giuliani or Bloomberg

Adams is not wrong. I've been talking about Long Islanders and the affinity with the NYPD for years here---a lot of LI men are cops and they work for the NYPD--a lot of them lost cops and firefighters on 9/11..........condolences to them....I guess Northeastern/Southern Irish-Italian men and women could only be cops/firefighters....

But a lot of suburban Long Islanders (Boomer Esiason, Mike Francesa, etc.) have suburban prejudices of minorities and a lot of cops and firefighters listen to WFAN and other radio stations that broadcast to the NYC suburbs and that helped elect Gulotta, Pete King, Rudy Giuliani, etc...

The racial tension on Long Island since the 1940s has always been there. This is not saying that every Long Islander is a racist, no...but Long Island has racial problems---Long Island is one of the most segregated suburbs in America....you have Garden City-the white, prosperous side and Hempstead--the Black/Latino, poorer section of LI.....

The racial tension is deep that in 1993, an angry Black man shot white suburban passengers and killed many, known as the Colin Ferguson 1993 LIRR shooting....

This is one of the biggest reasons why Long Island is so pro-police, but antigun. The Long Island Republican Party is a template of what the national GOP could have modeled after---white ethnic Irish/Italians who are pro-cop, pro-firefighter but antigun because they are afraid of Black and Latino people....

Adams has support from LI politicians, he has to balance with the cops and the activists

Adams returns campaign donations from corrupt NYPD cops......

https://nypost.com/2021/10/04/eric-adams-returns-campaign-donations-from-nypd-cops/

I think Mayor Adams should pick a Black woman as the next NYPD commissioner--the days of Italian/Irish chiefs are over for a while now....they have proven that they cannot reform the police......

Any self-respecting person who knows the abuse caused by the police would do and say this. The question is, why are these dirty cops are donating to him in the first place?

No more stop and frisk which happened especially in the Bloomberg Years 02-13. More community style policing while not defunding it in the more high crime neighborhoods

He is a cop. He appeals to conservadems and a lot of Republicans who supported Giuliani and Bloomberg are supporting him...a lot of Long Island Republicans crossed party lines to support him...shows that Sliwa is not a serious candidate in their eyes.

Silwa is more of a cat owning beret wearing Polish/Italian American who has little to no experience in politics before. While Adams has been in the state house/former NYPD officer/ and president of Brooklyn Borough. A lot of these NYPD folks who voted for Trump in 2020 can cross parties and vote for Adams since he is the more experienced police officer.

I think the beret is enough to make him not have credibility. I know it's his signature thing, but he can at least stop wearing it when campaigning. He doesn't look like a potential mayor but instead like a half-assed M. Bison cosplayer.

Well, at least I know who will stand for the Cab drivers like my Uncle in Philly after he got drowned in debt for medallion removals till Uber finally pushed him out the market and broke down his family.

Communism is pro-family, so there goes all the compassion.

Adams calls Sliwa a racist today....

https://www.politico.com/states/new-york/albany/story/2021/10/05/adams-laces-into-sliwa-during-radio-interview-calling-him-racist-1391628

When Sliwa loses, the NYCGOP will have to realize that their base is dead. The Giuliani base has moved to NJ/CT/PA/FL/AZ/TX/NC...

The late Guy Molinari predicted it in 1999!!!

What's Andrew Yang going to be doing now that he lost the New York City mayoral Democratic primary?  Try again four years from now?  Attempt another quixotic run for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2024?  Or just stick to the private sector?

Seems like the answer is become an irrelevant third-party crank.

If DSA was smart, they would not endorse the PSL candidate whose party engages in apologism for Maoist China etc. A cynical but clever move would be to endorse Curtis Sliwa who is running on a bunch of economic populist rhetoric and try to get him to make concessions in at least some areas.

You understand Sliwa is a gang leader who has terrorized the poor on the Metro, right? How would empowering someone like him, with his own personal army, help the working class? Seems like a great way to give the man political cover so he can use it to crush and destroy the DSA when he gets the chance.

Given I have actually studied the PSL, the whole concept that they are this extremist party is not the case. Over the past years they’ve shown pragmatism and moderation, exactly like the DSA.

If I can be honest, foreign policy and ideological programs of parties do not matter at all in how people perceive them and how they work together with other organizations. The PSL, for all it’s supposed radicalism, endorsed Sanders in the primaries and marches together with Sunrise for common ecological goals

Hot take: the DSA does not have to make an endorsement and should not endorse either a PSL candidate or a literal Republican(!).

The case against Rojas is not that she's "bad on China" or whatever but that she's not going to win, and it's not clear to me how it would benefit DSA in any way to endorse her. DSA does not do "paper endorsements" and it's frankly a little late in the campaign to roll out an endorsement.

The case against Sliwa is that he will also not win, and he's basically a fascist (sorry, an "economic populist") who coincidentally hates the DSA. Not sure what the point would be there either.

Cathy Rojas is basically a DSAer in all but party and could be a turning point in advancing the DSA’s interest in the city. That’s like saying Eugene Debs’ runs were bad for the socialist movement because he had no chance.

DSA actually has done “paper endorsements” in the past and works with other parties and groups no problem, doing this would help the DSA get street cred and form tactical alliances with the PSL for anything related to mutual aide, anti war stuff, canceling evictions, and possible electoral partnerships and alliances with the PSL later.

Not doing so is quite sectarian and only seems to divide the struggle.

I just voted. I wrote in Brad Lander for Mayor, voted for all the Democrats, except for unopposed judge races where I wrote in friends and family.
