Noooooo please don’t stay gone for good!!! What will NYC ever do without you???

LOL, if we’re lucky Adams will trigger a mass exodus of the most insufferable New York hipsters and then the city will actually become cool and livable again.

Heartbreaking, the worst person I know just made a great point.

Edit: which is ironic because he spazzed out a few days ago when I said something similar.

Given Rudy was the best mayor NYC has had since 1965 , the answer is Yes

Interesting. Looking forward to precinct results so we can see exactly where analysis of the absentee vote fell short.

You're assuming we're getting precinct results.

Exciting to see a fellow New Jersey transplant elected mayor if nothing else.

On another note, could a Democrat actually win Staten Island BP now that Fossella has won the GOP primary?

Not my first choice, but not upset. Hopefully he cracks down on crime.

Big brain conspiracy idea;

What if this is all De Blasio’s doing so he can declare martial law and remain mayor indefinitely

No I will not be taking questions

New York will finally have a mayor who truly understands the experience of everyday New Yorkers who, like him, commute in from their home in New Jersey.

Being one such person, I'm well aware that New Yorkers look down on tourists and commuters, but perhaps they should realize that we are a huge net positive for the city. We patronize NYC businesses, work for NYC firms, in almost all cases pay NY state tax since it's higher than NJ and CT, and the only way we use city services is public transit, and that may even be cancelled out by those of us who drive. If the tourists and commuters vanished NYC would be a lot poorer.

That’s all well and good, but I don’t see what it has to do with the fact that maybe the mayor of a city should actually live there.

Damn… this feels like a repeat of the 2020 primaries, where my arguments in favor of my first choice against the Online Left’s preferred candidate(s) ended up applying better to the conservative square establishment candidate.

But hey, RCV is becoming more of a thing IRL!

Honestly I think this result saves RCV because if Adams lost you bet your ass there'd be some big campaign to get rid of it (probably "ONE PERSON, ONE VOTE" like every other thing wanting to return to the worst voting system)

Of course Adams still sucks but luckily those downballot are definitely going to make sure that things aren't going to go as bad as they could.

Well now that there isn’t a chance of Adams running a write-in campaign, ensuring that this race is safe D, I’m going back to abstaining from this race.

I warmed up to Adams. He is a chad. He's said some weird/offensive stuff in the past but I don't think it will affect his governance as much as some here think. Also, It's pretty cool that after 125 years a borough president from the best borough has been elected mayor for the first time.

I don't know, man, but if his rejection of the proposed 18-story Atlantic Avenue rezoning is any indication, he'll end up being a NIMBY mayor, with housing prices & rent remaining high as NYC firmly rejects building-up. Hopefully the guy ends up proving all of us wrong, as opposed to taking good-enough bribes to end up building more condos for the wealthy than any Mayor in NYC history, but he was rather emphatically not the mayoral candidate whom NYC should've gone with here.

In any event, as somebody with a Brooklynite mother, mad props to the best boro.

Adams' views on education alone are disgusting. Praying for the good people of NY.

De Blasio is from Brooklyn as well (Park Slope).

Also the Donovan Richards tweets about Liz Crowley are quite something if she really said that (I wouldn’t be shocked).
