What if Meg Whitman ran for the Republican senate nomination to challenge Barbara Boxer instead of Carly Fiorina. As she managed to make this year's gubernatorial race somehow competitive due to her moderate stances on social issues (though Brown finally won that race by 13), how a Boxer vs Whitman senate race would have been like? Who would have won?

Still Boxer. California was too polarized even back then.
